FWIW, Poster on the LSUrb:

quote:

Again, I hate to play this card, but I talk to a couple of S. Lab coaches regularly. When I brought up the Randall interview yesterday the first thing one of them said was, what do you think he would say? Allen wants Bama and they want him at Bama. I still have yet to hear a positive thing about LSU from these guys.

To be fair, they obviously do not speak for Marcus or the kids parents, but I do find their attitude to be very telling.

Shea again:

Would be nice if LSU could finish with not just a surprise LB in Gay but a 5-star at that, huh..

Like I said, I feel most confident on Phillips. Then Gay. Then Allen. But I think all three are realistic for LSU right now and I do think it winds up being Queen-Phillips-Gay-Allen

Najee told Tua to stop talking about him to the media:

quote:

Alabama quarterback commit Tua Tagovailoa, who plans to room with Harris at Alabama, has been put in the awkward position of answering questions for Harris at the Army Bowl.

“Me and Najee talked last night and he doesn’t want anybody to know anything,” Tagovailoa told USA TODAY Sports on Thursday. “People are trying to blow him up so he just asked me not to mention him. I just have to respect that.”

I'm sure Jonathan Taylor still might own that honor, albeit for different reasons.

In the week leading up to Alabama’s second straight national championship appearance against Clemson, Crimson Tide fans have been able to get a glimpse into the future.

At the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, plenty of Alabama commits have made their marks, but none bigger than Tua Tagovailoa, the nation’s No. 1 dual-threat quarterback. Tagovailoa and his family is pretty excited about his chance to play for a perennial national championship contender. So excited, in fact, that the family had 4,000 t-shirts printed up that say “Roll Tua Roll” to show off throughout the week of preparation.

For all this drama and craziness we are dealing with this year with Najee, Leatherwood (who's UF story I don't believe for a min, the kid was there in Tampa and went farther out of his way to get to Ttown), A Solomon etc......

There is a family and kid doing it 100% the RIGHT and UPSTANDING way...there were rumors and he SQUASHED them almost instantaneously, he and his family are from the farthest state West in Hawaii, but they fell in love with the U of A. Whether he becomes a legend here or ends up as a career bench guy (doubt it with his talent level and skill set) he handled his recruitment and early commitment to Bama the RIGHT WAY

USA Today | No. 1 overall recruit Najee Harris seems headed for Alabama
quote:

The recruiting saga of No. 1 overall prospect Najee Harris appears to be coming to a close with the star running back likely to remain committed to Alabama and not flipping to Michigan.

A person familiar with Harris’ plan said his mother asked U.S. Army All-American Bowl officials to switch Harris’ flight Sunday from San Antonio to Birmingham and the Army Bowl has complied. Harris, from Antioch, Calif., was initially scheduled to fly home to Oakland...

Yeah, thanks for being up front and a leader in this class and thanks for recruiting for us.
At least Leatherwood did that for us even if he did waver.
Tua has shown himself to be the MVP of this recruiting class already. Nothing against Jalen but I hope CNS goes with a 2 QB system next year and we have a package for both and ride the hot hand. SMH at Harris.
Please promise this shite will be over tomorrow when he deplanes in B'ham. If he draws it out past that, we all know he's a lying arse drama whore that wants nothing but attention.

Hey I agree he could have ended this at any time by confirming or flipping but relax. He still an 18 yr old kid who will likely be a great RB at Alabama.

One guy on BOL hypothesized that the UF staff was Bartow's source, and that they embellished the Leatherwood story so that they can make it appear that they were very, very close to landing Leatherwood. This would take away some of the heat for McElwain who has not done a great job recruiting.

I think that is closer to reality than that Leatherwood was headed to UF until CNS called him. Why would a phone call from Saban completely derail Leatherwood if he really wanted to be a Gator? Why would he even pick up the phone?

In fact, the responses to his entire post history are hilarious. The LSixU fans really, really kissed his arse.

I think they deleted the thread where he and I got into it.

Harris wants his buddy, Tagovailoa, to keep their conversations confidential

Alabama quarterback commit Tua Tagovailoa was sort of Najee Harris’ mouthpiece this week in San Antonio for the Army Bowl. Tagovailoa told reporters earlier this week that Harris was scheduled to be on his flight to Alabama on Sunday.

After that, the nation’s No. 1 overall prospect and Tagovailoa spoke about what Harris wants out in the media.

“We talked about this last night and he said, ‘Let’s just keep everything low key and just between us,'” Tagovailoa told SEC Country. “He wasn’t mad about what I said, but I don’t think I should say any more about what he’ll do. Najee doesn’t want anybody talking about this anymore, so we just have to respect that.”

Is it a good thing that Harris and Tagovailoa are just keeping the most mysterious recruitment in the Class of 2017 to themselves? I mean, it’s possible, but with Harris, you just never know what he’s actually thinking.

What we do know is that Harris and Tagovailoa are very close. Outside of Army Bowl practices, the two have sort of been inseparable, which definitely doesn’t hurt the Crimson Tide’s chances of keeping him committed.

“Najee is just another kid just like everyone else,” Tagovailoa said. “He gets more attention than everyone here, though, because he’s the No. 1 player. Just getting to know him, he’s a very humble guy. Every time I get back to the hotel, Najee is always FaceTiming, calling or texting me asking where I’m at. He always comes into my room.”

The latest report on what Harris will do is that the 5-star prospect will fly from San Antonio to Birmingham, Ala., on Sunday and stick with his commitment. As I’ve said all week, the staff will not feel 100 percent until he’s actually in Tuscaloosa.

What Harris will actually do still isn’t 100 percent clear and will likely not be until he shows up at either Alabama or Michigan. Since he started showing legitimate interest in Michigan, I’ve heard nothing from sources close to Harris and Alabama that would make me think he will flip to Michigan.

I was told that when Nick Saban and outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi, Harris’ main recruiter, visited him in Antioch, Calif., that his recruitment was over at that point and his commitment to Alabama was sealed; however, there has been misinformation from Harris’ camp, whether it was intentional or not.

We’ll know in just a few days what Harris will actually do. I still believe he’ll stick with his commitment.

Ruggs clarifies Tagovailoa’s comments

Earlier this week, Tagovailoa told SEC Country that 4-star wide receiver Henry Ruggs was down to Alabama and Florida State. That’s not totally accurate, according to Ruggs, but he did say that those two schools hold an edge over the other three schools in his top 5, which are Auburn, Florida and Penn State.

“He probably misinterpreted things a little bit,” Ruggs told SEC Country’s Jesse Simonton. “I told him that out of my top 5, those two schools are probably my favorites. That was the question he asked me. I don’t have a leader, though.”

Ruggs has appeared to be Alabama bound for several months now, and it would be surprising to see him choose a different team other than the Crimson Tide. The Army All-American did say Alabama holds one edge over the other four schools.

“I have more of a connection with the Alabama staff because I talk to more coaches, but with Florida State, I’m always in contact with (Seminoles wide receivers) coach (Lawrence) Dawsey,” Ruggs said.

Tagovailoa and Ruggs are on the same Army Bowl team this week and the wide receiver is rooming with Alabama offensive line commit Kendall Randolph. Ruggs said he has the best relationship with the Alabama commits out of the schools he’s considering. Tagovailoa is a big part of that.

“We met at a camp at Alabama this summer,” Ruggs said. “We got a chance to throw the ball around a little bit then. We developed a connection there and now we’ve brought that here, and we’ve just been playing together more.”

Ruggs will take an official visit to Alabama on Jan. 20. The tentative plan is for him to announce his commitment on National Signing Day.
