Leatherwood attended Florida's 30-3 Outback Bowl win over Iowa Monday in Tampa. Leatherwood had intentions of going from Tampa to Gainesville, Fla. to enroll.
Alabama caught word and squashed those intentions to hold onto the five-star prospect. It was that close.
Lol, what a bunch of garbage. Sounds like he read the Florida rant recruiting board as his source. How does Saban squash a kid going wherever he wants? Until the player is enrolled the school has no say. If Leatherwood wanted to go to Florida all he had to do was drive there, yet somehow Saban stopped him. This recruiting cycle has been laughable. Leatherwood was perhaps our best and most ardent recruit recruiter

A lot of recruiting sources are often time on coaching staffs, they keep connection so they can feed analyst info they want out there.
No secret Andrew Bone's Bama source for the longest time was Lance Thompson.
Not commenting on the validity one way or another here...

Day 3 of the Army Practices started about two hours ago. I'll post the updates relevant to Alabama.

Najee Harris and Stephen Carr both look great as receivers out of the backfield. Running routes also looks natural for Carr.

I will say however that those taking the "it doesn't matter" attitude are wrong. This kid is not the best back in this class; he is likely the best back in the next five classes. Harris is a gamechanger type talent even at Bama.
No offense but I have heard this before regarding other 5 star recruits like LF7. I am not saying your wrong but we miss on far more 5 stars then we land. I can think of only one that we have missed on that may have netted another title or two since Saban has been here and that was Winston and still not sure with behavior off the field. So I do not believe anyone recruit changes this program. Just saying

Barton Simmons was asked this question:

Which RB has had the better week? Akers or Harris?
Very hard question to answer. I would think Saturday's game would have to serve as kind of a tie breaker. hard to make a definitive call on that based on practice.

Pretty good job by Jarez Parks to defeat a reach block by Demery and make a play in the backfield against Akers.

Kendall Randolph is sneaky good. He just helped open up a big hole on the right side for a big Cam Akers gain.

Is there anyone here that thinks Bama wins a title last season without Derrick Henry ?
Henry carried Bama on his back down the stretch last season. Where is Clemson without Watson ?

Probably not. But if we missed on Henry, it's probably safe to assume we hang on to Alvin Kamara or Tenpenny. And Drake would have had a more expanded role.
Leonard Fournette was a once in a lifetime recruit when he signed with LSU. He went 25-12 with his team making a Music City, Texas, and Citrus bowl.
Mark Ingram was like the 20th ranked rb and he left here with a 36-5 record an SEC, a natty, and a heisman.
eta: stars at skill positions are obviously great to have, but a more sustainable way to win is to have stars in the trenches. just my two cents.

Maybe the janitor or the lunch lady at his school has some inside info. Someone should ask them. His coach sure as hell doesn't know a damn thing.
