Unfortunately, the B1G and really USC/UCLA if it is true they offered themselves up to the B1G and was always leaving the PAC 12, is pushing us toward NFC/AFC style conferences. I get it (more for USC) cause the weak Pac 12 was going to cost them playoff opportunities and honestly LA schools can be more appealing in recruiting in a nationwide league. The B1G is going to fill in that space between Iowa and those west coast schools and the SEC will have to expand accordingly. It is now a matter of how far west and north the SEC is willing to go. In the short term though USC and UCLA just look ridiculous in the B1G.

ETA: Although I don't know how having to play @ Wisconsin in November will appeal to a lot of west coast and southern recruits .

So, every aspect of CFB that's made it different/better than the NFL is being converted to an NFL model.

Yep and I am starting to think that was the plan the whole time with how the transfer portal and NIL was managed. It feels pretty much done at this point, all that is left is for the athletic departments/major programs to have some kind of partnership with the schools but operate as their own entity which they practically do already and the 2 big conferences breaking away from the NCAA and running the show themselves.

Yes. Those "Alliance schools are suddenly taking notice of Sankey's warning that the 12 team playoff offer they turned down may not be available next time. It won't. By the way is the Nietzsche you are quoting the Bubba Nietzsche from Lochapoka, Alabama? Smart dude.

I don’t see how this helps usc/ucla in recruiting the LA market, unless nil includes travel for families to away games.

It's not about recruiting SoCal kids. That has never been a problem for USC or UCLA. It's about money and getting out of a league where 1 loss all but eliminates you from playoff contention.

So the B1G basically tells UW and Nike U. to pound sand, we don’t want you. Meanwhile they are AGAIN, for like the 100th time in my lifetime approaching Notre Dame and asking them to join up. My guess is ND ain’t going for it. If the Irish join the BIG 10, they are a top tier program but not THE program. That title will still belong to Ohio State and ND will be vying for attention amongst Michigan, Penn State, and Wisconsin. Stay in the ACC and they are the big fish in the little pond.

I hate this NFL-ization of college football but if you’re going to do it, then by God, do it right. Sankey should pick up the phone and invite Washington, Oregon, Utah, Colorado, Arizona and either Cal or Stanford ASAP. Extend the same invite to UNC, NC St, Miami and Clemson and take 2 of the 4. That gives you a coast to coast league with new TV markets in Seattle, Portland,, San Francisco, Phoenix, Denver, Salt Lake City, and possibly Charlotte and Miami. That’s a 24 team league you can split into the Western division comprised of the former Pac 12 teams with Oklahoma and Texas, the Central made up of the former SEC West plus Missouri, and the East made up of the SEC East plus the 2 ACC teams. That’s 8 teams per division. You play the other 7 teams in your division and 2 teams from each of the other divisions. You may play 1 out of conference game. The division champions plus the best 2nd place team play a 4 team playoff to determine the league champion. Alternatively you could make 4 six team divisions if you like, similar arrangement.

The NCAA will no longer be relevant. The BIG can join this arrangement if they choose and there can be 2 leagues or they can frick off, whichever they like. And we will offer to have our champion whip their champion’s arse any time they would like to play. The name “Southeastern Conference” will no longer be appropriate so a new name will have to be chosen. What would you do or change?

Not sure how legitimate this is
I would absolutely hate this unless we started kicking some teams out

Just for poops and giggles, is there any thoughts or yet in scheduling for a 20 team conference? 10 conference games? Lol

If you stick with 9 conference games and do three permanent opponents, you would cycle through all teams every three years. But it does make it harder to determine the championship game of you have 3 teams with the same record and possibly not playing each other.

Thanks, but there's no way to assess if it's credible w/o a link or ID of who tweeted it.

Would imagine the SEC would want FSU and Miami just to keep the big10 out of the state of Florida. Clemson wouldn’t add much other than keeping big10 out of south but the North Carolina and Virginia schools would add two new tv markets. Either way I hate all of it.

True. Playing back to back Nov road games to fly from Southern California to play in the snow in Wisconsin or Michigan will be something to watch.
