Man, I like Freddie, but he doesn't excite me at all as a DL coach.

According to Tim Watts, Bo couldn't get out of his contract with the Lions and that it was unlikely he would be leaving this year. Also said that next year could be a completely different story and that if Nick Saban offered it would be hard for Bo to turn down.

Coaches bounce around, frequently coaching many positions in their career. It's very common. It's even possible to find guys who coached on both sides of the football, Matt Rhule is an excellent example:

quote:

As coach:

Albright (1998)
Linebackers coach

Buffalo (1999–2000)
Defensive line coach

UCLA (2001)
Defensive line coach

Western Carolina (2002)
Special teams & linebackers coach

Western Carolina (2003–2004)
Associate head coach/special teams/linebackers coach

Western Carolina (2005)
Associate head coach/running game coordinator/special teams/linebackers coach

Temple (2006)
Defensive line coach

Temple (2007)
Quarterbacks coach & recruiting coordinator

Temple (2008–2010)
Offensive coordinator & quarterbacks coach

Temple (2011)
Offensive coordinator/tight ends/recruiting coordinator

New York Giants (2012)
Assistant offensive line

Temple (2013–2016)
Head coach

Baylor (2017–2019)
Head coach

Carolina Panthers (2020–present)
Head coach

A good coach is a good coach.

SO what's the reason behind Baker moving to off the field position?

Softer landing than being fired.

Baker is probably looking back toward the NFL, which he probably won't have an opportunity at until 2021.

Is Roach a solid recruiter?

He did a pretty good job recruiting for Ole Miss. Especially in Alabama and Mississippi. Probably the best talent Ole Miss has signed from Alabama in years.

Source: Former Alabama tight end Michael Nysewander is expected to join Lane Kiffin's staff at Ole Miss as an analyst.

Was Samford's running backs coach this past season. Prior to that, worked under Kiffin at FAU.

After Bo Davis' contract with Detroit ends, Saban will "trade" Baker to Detroit for Bo Davis and profit. Then Bo will coach DL and Freddie will coach LBs.

The first phase was Burns to NY instead of Roach, Baker to Burns old spot, Roach to Bama instead of NY or OM. Nysewander to OM
Chess moves.

Idk what's gonna happen there yet. CFB Assistant Coaches Carousel is still spinning. Ansley would be a good choice if Golding gets hired away.
