Very interesting with all these coaches leaving and juniors declaring for the draft

To be fair, he's a Grad Assistant getting an on field job at Old Dominion.

LSU fans think it will be easy to replace Aranda or at least they are acting like it. They just don't know. Aranda is arguably the best DC in college football and he has gotten to this status coaching in the toughest conference and division in the SEC. Aranda held that program together until they could get a competent offensive coach.

If you were a top DC wouldn't you want to make twice as much and coach premier kids in a premier conference with the HC allowing you to do your thing.

If Aranda moves on it hurts in continuity for a season, but O will get who he wants outside of the SEC. Unless that DC has a coach in waiting deal in place.

Yep, with the money they are offering they'll find a good replacement. Maybe not the level of Aranda but will still be a quality hire.

Will they? Lots of rats leaving that ship. Pure speculation on my part but with the Wade stuff and the OBJ fiasco, could the NCAA be getting ready to take a thorough look at LSU sports and folks are getting the hell out of Dodge?

Bobby Hebert has said Pete Golding is the most likely guy O will go after for the DC spot. Please let this to be true!

Seriously? Golding leaving is that much a foregone conclusion nationally? I hope we have Derrick Ansley on speed dial.

Frank Wilson was HC at UTSA when Golding was DC and Wilson will probably recommend Pete to Orgeron. Pete is from Hammond, LA. LSU is probably pretty much a dream DC job for Pete. I could see it happen and I'd be good with it. Not a hater, but also not confident in Pete's abilities.

Without a doubt. Orgeron and Frank Wilson are known to be very close. Like talk once a day close. And, for Bobby Hebert, another of Orgeron's longtime friends, to say O will look at Pete Golding I'm sure he got that on good authority.

Kris Richard, most recently of the Cowboys is being mentioned in BR media as a possible replacement. He has a nice resume. I wish we were pursuing him.

Resume is nice, performance not so much.

He'd be a good hire, but I don't think he's "better" than Aranda. And his specialty is DBs, a spot LSU is historically strong at.

I wonder what the interaction with Corey Raymond would be if they did hire him. He gets passed over...again...for the DC spot and they both coach different schemes.

Good luck to Burns, hope he does well!

Never really understood the switch when he moved off field, more so now with him taking this job. Big reason Bama got into Louisiana as much as they did.
