Ar-Kansas is a complete dumpster fire and it’s going to be major hurdle to turn it around. Right now FAU is a better program and I can’t see Fishwater wanting that job. But $$$ can change minds all the time.
I agree which is why I think they will pay a pretty penny for Kiffin. Kiffin is the only coach I can see that can get them in every 5 stars living room. Kiffin would give them the credibility and cache to recruit like they need to in order to compete.

If you want to keep up with everything just go to the LSURB. Everybody is an insider and has a source. They argue over who is the biggest insider

Arkansas can't afford to take a lotto chance on Lane Kiffin. He has left a path of destruction and mayhem everywhere he has stopped. The residual effects are still self-evident in Oakland, Tennessee, USC and frankly, his departure from the Capstone probably cost Alabama a national championship as well.
In short, his history as a head coach or coordinator has been ridiculous. Any power 5 team willing to give Kiffin a 5th-chance deserve everything they are about to get.

Chris Peterson is stepping down at Washington. Door closed on getting Jimmy Lake, as he is named full time head coach.

BREAKING Chris Petersen To Step Down at Washington, DC Jimmy Lake taking over. This is part of why Lake has turned down so many good jobs before.

All this chaos and Clemson will somehow keep their staff intact. Meanwhile some position coach from our staff will get a lower level job and take half the staff with him.

I think it's just something about being the top dog in the ACC. FSU at their peak under Bowden in the 90s also had minimal staff turnover. It makes sense too. The talent gap between Clemson and the rest of the ACC is as wide as the gap between us and Ole Miss. They can probably put in a 50 hour work week for half of their conference games while most staffs are working at least 70-80 hour weeks. I bet they can even take a few Sundays off during the season. That has to be extremely difficult to walk away from for guys in a profession that is notorious for causing burnout.

The thing is that as much as I like and appreciate Saban, most of our staff turnover is solely on him. He is so hard to work for that most coaches can't deal with it. It's why we see so many lateral or lower level moves from our assistants.
I'm not saying Saban should go or shouldn't be hard on his assistants, but we need to be honest about why we lose so many guys.
That being said, at a minimum, Golding needs to move on. The lack of improvement throughout the year is unacceptable. It's going to be hard to make the right hire because the guy coming in knows he won't be running his own defense.
The way I see it, if you're going to trust a guy enough to hire him, you need to trust him enough to install a system and run it.

Venables is the only one I would consider for HC material. The others are questionable.

If I remember correctly, Venables has been open about not wanting a head coaching job. He actually prefers being an assistant.

Nick Saban At Oxford MS Airport
WTH is going on here?
Edit: maybe recruiting?

That's only speculation. Dabo already pays him quite a big plus he has a kid on the team.

Probably to see a recruit (Pegues) or possibly OM staffers who'll be in the coaching carousel. Bama coaches are on the road from today through mid-Dec doing in-home recruit visits.

I think you’re absolutely right. Especially about the burnout aspect. Clemson is an SEC school in a crappy conference. Quality of life for a coach there has got to be a lot better than the SEC. Right now, Clemson has the same setup as FSU in the 90’s but doesn’t have to play 90’s Florida or Miami. This FSU here is huge in that Clemson needs at some competition in that conference.
On the same note, I’m jealous as hell that Dabo has a staff that has a ton of Alabama connections.
