Only one I’ve seen close to Tua is Deshaun Watson. Not saying his skill set is close, but I’ve never seen a QB take a beating like he took against Bama and just wouldn’t quit.

He is currently better than some NFL QBs. Not even joking.

If I were an owner and we don't already have a proven franchise guy, I'm tanking 2019 season.

Tanking for Tua.

I like to steer away from this kind of potential hyperbole, but honestly, I think you may be right.

If you know my posting history, I'm generally cautious about praise and cautious about too much criticism (kickers and Trey Depreist don't count). I use to play this sport man and what that kid can do... just wow.

I'm not drinking kool aid and I'm not a sunshine pumper. That kid is crazy good where it doesn't make sense how well he understands things and quickly he processes things.

We aren't even talking about his accuracy yet. We aren't talking about his pocket awareness. We aren't talking about his foot work. We aren't talking about him being alegitmate threat running the ball, his fantastic personality and a great work ethic.

The kid just seems like he sees everything before it happens.

Took me my redshirt sophomore year for things to finally begin to slow down a little and I couldn't really put my mark till my redshirt junior season.

This kid has slowed it down in the matter of quarters. It's insane and if people are being honest we have never ever seen anyone do this.

Ever.

I don't know if he needs to improve in the area or not, cause most of our receivers get good seperation, but I'm interested to see him throw more into tight coverage. Back shoulder throw and stuff like that

But this part makes me question how closely you watch #13 He dissects defenses and makes lightning quick decisions better than most QBs I’ve ever seen at the collegiate level. He’s not 100% perfect, but I can’t remember even seeing a guy this polished this early in his career. It’s entering into previously unheard of levels. He’s deadly accurate, he processes things quickly and makes the right decision at a much higher percentage of the time than he has any business doing at 20 years old.

I didn’t say anything about his accuracy because I think that is one thing about him that may already be about maxed out. He has elite NFL level accuracy already imo.

However I stand by assessment that he is elite at reading defenses quickly at the college level but not elite in this area at the NFL level yet. The OPs question is can he get any better and I think this is an area he can get better at. It’s hard to even do until you get to the NFL and see those kid of defenses with those athletes, speed and schemes. He is not the QB he would be after a couple years in the NFL. That’s my only point - he will get even better.

I guarantee you he is better than Blake Bortles right now.

And I don’t see where he is “throwing into situations that would be turnovers...”.

But yea, he has a lot of room for improvement. The dude doesn’t complete 25% of his passes. Worse still, five in six passes aren’t even touchdowns.

He will have to get better between the ears. All the accolades being bestowed upon him, he'll need to make sure he harnesses them all and not allow to become complacent.
This is something Saban preaches all the time to always play for the next play, etc. But this is a whole new level.
He does have a lot to do, in terms of reading defenses and anticipating. There are plenty of more types of defenses that are coming for him, those he must learn what to do.

I think you guys are over-rating Tua big time. He wasn’t even good enough to be the starter last season. If he’s so amazing, he would have started.

He can improve by switching to his right hand.

Perhaps he has improved in the interim. Perhaps the coaching staff was hesitant to replace their starting QB in the middle of the season while still winning games, often by a wide margin. Perhaps you are trying to stir shite and direct the thread in a direction that allows you to express your opinions regarding decisions made in a year in which the team won a fricking championship.

As a Dolphin fan, do I need to tell you who I'd prefer right now between Tannehill and Tua?

I said the same thing about Bortles. Some people idealize the pros to the degree that they don’t recognize the many weak spots.

As for last year. It was a mistake for Tua to sit all year. It almost cost us a title. We were lucky to make the playoffs. It was a mustake. No one is perfect.

Of course. I think he's already improved quite a bit since last season.

You have a good point, but let's not lose sight that any starting NFL QB would absolutely carve up any college defense - especially the ones that we've played so far this year. Even a guy like Baker Mayfield is already a lot better right now after one NFL training camp than he was his last year at Oklahoma.

Every rookie player states that getting used to the speed of the NFL game is something they have to adapt to.

He got injured versus Arkansas while throwing 14 passes. Yes he's got A LOT he can improve on.

DON'T GET HURT WHEN YOU ARE A ONCE IN A GENERATION QB.

We don't need him struggling for 3 yards on 2nd and 12 when protection breaks down throw it away and get them on 3rd down.

He's better than Dak Prescott

Why does his comment upset you so badly? It's rather innocuous, and it's a valid point, whether he meant it that way or not. That is, this thread is about whether Tua can get better. Of course he can, and one way that he'll get better is by more reps. The more he plays, the more he'll learn by experience. Had he played more last year, he'd nearly certainly been better this year, same as he'll nearly certainly be better next year. There is a video of Tua being interviewed and the guy asks him how he developed such good touch on the ball, and he answers "reps". Nothing replaces those reps in a real live game.

Just not sure why you got so upset at the comments.

I was drunk and I didn't want this to evolve in to the same discussion we've had ad nauseum. My apologies if I came across as belligerent.
