It's a product of not understanding the game simply because your eyes are always on the QB.

To makes it worse, these people build up a Superman savior in their head who is on the bench and are just dismayed at why we don't just bring in Superman to solve all the issues.

The only time we ever had Superman on the bench, it was Tua. Ty ain't Tua.

A really good thing will come from last night.
But it won't be a qb change.

Nick Sheridan and Deboer will spend a lot of time going over the mistakes Sheridan made. And there were many. The rest will be fixed when the OL gets fixed.

For the record, Milroe is not my favorite QB. I think the LANK thing is idiotic and inappropriate. It's the equivalent of "I'll show you!", which serious people don't say. He also has a tendency to talk too much AND he seems to think he has accomplished a hell of a lot more than he actually has.

But in his defense, he is adjusting his game. He is quicker to run the ball now. For a while, he was way too worried about being stereotyped as a "duel threat black qb like daddy warned him about."

The bottom line is he will continue to improve. Pendix was 25 years old and a 6 year started last year.

Milroe ain't perfect. He's a bit of a politician. He's a little full of himself. But he's ok. He works like hell and he's ours.

I really wish you guys would stop trashing him after every play and let Deboer figure all this out.

Fully agree. When we were struggling with pass protection they should have ran more short quick routes to change the flow of the game and take pressure of Jalen and the OL.

Much to be learned from this game.

Yeah I thought the coaching staff would do more of what milroe can do well. However I think Sheridan probably saw that hey Milroe throws an amazing deep ball.

Yet this won't work against an offensive line that was giving up instant pressure.

Took all game to figure out to throw the ball out quick and run the ball outside?

You can't teach some the less educated and
angry fans in this fan base. (Is that better?)

They don't understand that there wasn't some magical open WR that Jalen was missing. They don't understand that for most of the night against a heavy blitz and no protection he had no hot routes, no dumps, no slants, only 1 screen, etc... He held on a little long and took some sacks that he shouldn't have instead of running sooner or throwing it away.

They're ignorant, drunk, and combative. At the end of the day, it's just more fun to laugh at them and poke fun at them because they don't even see that you're doing that. Provides endless amounts of entertainment.

It certainly isn't all Milroe's fault. However, the play calling and the oline are held back by his deficiencies. How do you execute a quick passing game with a QB that is really bad at doing that? What do you do about blitzes when a QB doesn't recognize them? If all your QB can do is heave it deep, just don't give him time. Pretty simple to defend.

The team will certainly improve if the o-line gets healthy. Unfortunately, the competition ramps up in a hurry.

I thought Deboer was painting himself into a corner by not declaring the QB spot open to competition. Now, IF he wants to switch QB's it looks like more of a huge deal than if Milroe had been pushed in the off season.

The announcer said we were leaving our safety valve in to protect because the ol could not.

A lot is on Sheridan.

And you are correct. We had everyone streaking often

Seemed like only guy that could win consistently one on one was Ryan Williams. And quite a few times he was clearly grabbed when we threw his way without a call.

So guessing if you are able to watch the film he was probably grabbed on every play

Joe Namath would have beat what South Florida threw at us last night. If you don't believe me watch Super Bowl III. Good coaches with a top passer like to see what South Florida did last night. Alabama not so much right now.

Yep, if you are blaming Milroe after seeing that OL disaster last night, I mean damn, what QB would have looked good?

I sure hope Jalen practices with the o line coach this week to help correct the blocking issues and penalties.

I want to know about this mythical quarterback who can operate when the RT is getting beat so decisively that his responsibility has a free attack at the QB by the time he receives the snap...oh and the other half of the time the RT is wiping out a big play because he held to avoid getting whipped.

Stolen from another post but 21 points and 42% of our offensive output came with said RT sitting on the sidelines instead of ole blocking or holding between the white lines.

Stolen from another post of mine: I've seen Patrick Mahomes look like Nathan Peterman in a Super Bowl due to how decisively his OL was getting whipped by the Bucs front four. Dude has 2 NFL MVPs and 3 Super Bowl MVPs in 7 seasons as a starter. You can't do shite when your OL is getting humiliated even if you're the most gifted passer of this generation.

I think almost everyone here is a Bama fan. This kind of thing is pretty petty and small because someone disagrees with you. It’s not meant as an attack man. It would probably do you some good to be a little less vitriolic.

Nobody said the o-line wasn't bad last night.

Just dont understand the folks that want to blame the guy who scored 4 of our 6 TDs and had another one called back on a bs holding penalty instead of the musical chairs OL that was responsible for like 8 of our 11 penalties. Is Jalen the best QB ever or the most natural guy with great QB instincts? No. Is he good enough to win us every game we play? Yes. You can't play offense when the OL is backing you up every drive, and if you do get a play it's called back or your teammates fumble it. (And yes I know Jalen was credited with a fumble but I watched it several times and it looked like a bad snap, angle is really bad to see exactly what happened). If we get just average ol play he's gonna be fine, but he's not the guy that is going to make up for bad ol play on his own.

Also I am not just blaming the OL. It's a shitty situation having to swap people all around to account for a freak warm up injury to the LT, which weakens us inside when our LG had to play tackle. OL is always kinda a work in progress this early before they have time to gel, and we are losing the opportunity to do that in these early games, so that sucks. Thankfully pritchett was healthy enough to step in and basically save the game by dominating the right side in the 4th. I hope he sealed up the RT spot with that game, he's better than formby

The refs finally did call PI on them but there were many times they should have in the 1st half but didn't. They had poor Formby scared to put a hand on anyone. He was guilty of a couple of holding calls but some of them were simply BS.

They should have schemes around bad line play. Why didn't they? Are they incompetent or handcuffed?

What? Maybe that’s why I was only a HS level coach, but I always drew up stuff with the intent on everyone doing their job I mean you can run screens when line is getting beat or run away from “bad sides” of the OL but at some point everyone needs to be able to execute

ETA- I have coached on both sides of the ball and offense is a lot harder bc sometimes one man breaking down ruins everything

We don't need a Superman, we just need someone who can execute.
