One thing that's worth fapping to all over again are Cooper's receiving numbers from those scrimmages. He's gonna go off this year regardless of who's throwing.

He's just so hard to cover. Good size and great speed, but his route running ability and his instincts are second to none in CFB.

I liked how Kiffin said Coop was asking about how Lee had such a big season. Kiffin will spread the wealth, but he'll feed Coop when he's on.

our reality at Bama is universes different from what we thought before spring. Just my humble opinion.

well damn, what were you expecting? im pretty sure most were expecting a QB competition between Sims and Coker. How are we "universes different from what we thought" based on where we are at today?

1) When the news broke about Coker coming, everyone thought/expected him to get here by Spring. That did not happen.
2) No one, or at least very few, thought Sims was going to progress so much in the last year, particularly with his mechanics.
3) No one thought we'd have Lane Kiffin running the Offense. (different schematically with emphasis on the short stuff)
4) No one, or very few, expected Sims to hold off whomever else was on campus to create a de facto 2 man race with Coker. Most folks assumed it would've been Bateman. Hell, most on the interwebs would've said a freshman over Sims at this juncture had you asked them a year or year and a half ago.

Ergo, I believe reality to have turned out very, very different from what most, or nearly all, thought. Yeah, sure, most folks really expected Sims to have a fantastic Spring according to all reports, and cement himself as the #1 heading into a fall competition with a wildy behind-the-Eightball Coker due to his lateness in arriving.

x infinity

No one, and I mean, no one, would've had (in August of 2013, i.e. a year ago) Sims at the top of their QB depth chart several practices into Fall 2014 Camp. No one.

Who? Sims himself?

It wasn't me. I had always held out hope he'd get a fair shot due to him being such a team guy his whole career, doing whatever was asked, but I never expected this much mechanical/footwork growth.

Appreciate your perspective on the Sims and the A-Day game

Pardon me if I'm flat out wrong here. But Cokers immediate eligibility was dependent on his graduation from FSU. Seems like it would be very clear/predictable when he would arrive. A simple audit of his remaining required credits for graduation would show whether he could've graduated by Dec 2013 vs May 2014.

When the possibility of his transfer first broke there was conflicting info about whether he'd graduate in December or Spring. Seems there was hope at one time that it would be December (possibly based on utilizing some on-line courses) but it obviously didn't work out.

There must be some people doing some serious drugs in the thread. Have y'all seen Sims play? He will not be our QB. Period. We have at least 3 more talented QB's on our roster. Like it has been stated, Coker wasn't brought in to ride the pine. Cornwell and Bateman are also more talented. Sims seems like a good kid but he isn't going to our QB.

SABAN: factors for starting QB ->

2) Delivering the ball accurately and on time (low turnovers)
3) Leading and affecting people around him positively

Our QB race is still open sure, but your comments were one of the least quality thoughts I've ever read on the interwebs regarding football.

I just think it's funny to read people's thoughts in the preseason who think they know what's going on but have zero clue.

Sims is definitely in it and has improved.

I really hope he has improved, but how would you know that? What is it based on?

Practice reports/videos and all of the people who went to Fan Day and said he looked better as a passer and I believe they said he was the most accurate QB that day.

It's all good to have this discussion in the preseason because there is nothing else to discuss. I just don't think Sims is the guy because he had a good fan day. I'm not even sure I trust anyone's opinion who attended that thing. Have you seen those crazy folks? I'm getting to check out practice on Tuesday. I will definitely be keeping an eye on the QB's. Should be interesting.

How are you getting to check out practice?

Looking forward to your thoughts on the QBs.

The hubris being exhibited in this thread is off the charts.

Then shut down the media coverage if it and every message board dedicated to it.
