I know our current base is the Nickel package but being that Auburn doesn't pose much of a passing attack would we be better suited running a 3-4. We need to be able to dominate the line of scrimmage and I feel our best three would be Young, Oatis, and Smith. We'll also need our linebackers to play their best game of the season and meet Bigsby and Hunter in the hole allowing no extra push. What are yall's thoughts on what should be our defensive gameplan Saturday?

We should be able to trot out the practice squad and run some basic, pee wee package and still manage to shut their offense out....

...but Pete Golding.

Does it matter? Golding will still have 12 second delayed safety blitzes, Anderson and Turner either dropping into coverage or doing stunts that take them out of the play, a safety 1v1 with their best receiver, no qb spy, etc, etc, etc…

Any of them that aren't called by Pete Golding.

Anything except the 1-4-6 Golding/Saban has run several times this year. Until it was analyzed in a posted video as an intentional, purposeful alignment, I thought the D was not getting set properly or couldn't get the right players substituted and on the field.

How does our defense match up against them? Their strength is running the ball and I feel like we have been susceptible to run at times but have only allowed two 100 yard rushers.

The game is all about matchups but I don not feel real comfortable on either side of the ball matching up with them. Their defense has been playing much better of late.

i dont know but i do know one thing. we better have a spy on that qb because he can scoot. we seem to have our problems with a running qb. he doesn't have a very accurate arm when pressured but over-pursuing him can be deadly!

We should shut their offense down to single digit scoring as long as we keep all of the running plays in front of us. They are pretty awful at passing the ball. They obviously have 2 very good running backs, and a mobile QB, but we'll be able to crowd the los and still not have to worry about downfield passing too much.

With Eli Ricks back at CB I’d put him and KoolAid out there and dare AU to throw 35 times.

Run out a base 3/4 like Kirby was still DC with Lawson spying Ashburn and let Anderson and Turner aggressively attack on the edges.

If you want to get really lazy just copy what UGA did when they held the same team to 10 garbage points earlier this year.

I love the sound of it, but we won’t do it. We’ll trot out there with our 1-4-6 scheme.

We are 3-4, but we haven't ran formation often because of spread offenses. We typically play nickel and dollar set.

You're not saying anything new.

Get Golding drunk and get someone out of the stands. Would be better.

Apparently you didn’t read my post. The post was a question, I’m very well aware of what type of defense we run I was just curious of what package everyone thought would be successful in this game.

Every decent team we’ve played this year has ran the ball with some success against this front.
Auburn is actually decent to good up front and I expect a struggle.

Fire Golding before the game and run a vanilla nickel or 3-4 package all game. Probably would work fine

As others have stated. I dont care what we run, our defense is gonna get shredded. Whatever Golding does will be impotent

Because the past week, just about everyone has complained, whined, threw temper tantrum about Golding and BOB and how they called the game.

I get it. We're frustrated. We're tired of same stuff that keeps happening over and over. But guess what? We went through this with Kirby and Pruitt.

We need to shift our focus to Auburn game. It's the last game od the regular season and we need to show the players support by bringing positive energy and try to end it in high note. It doesn't do anyone good to keep bringing up same shite every week where the answers is gonna be same over and over and over. I don't see anyone discussing Auburn this week. So yes, I'm on everyone's arse....
