I've been watching some BYU videos. I haven't changed my opinion on them much. Except, seeing their size on the perimeter, I originally thought we might not get off many 3s. But, after watching, they're not an athletic team. I think we can get any shot we want most of the time.
Our biggest issue will be corraling the long rebounds from their 3pt shots, and not letting them hit 15 threes. We have the size to rebound inside, but their tall back court will get a lot of the long rebounds from missed threes. However, if they crash too much, they'll leave themselves open to getting killed in transition. My biggest fear is their team full of lunch pail white guys going unconscious and hitting every 3 they throw up.

Why do we not have a Basketball Season sticky?
I get Chicken doesn’t want a lot of Stickies but <5 seems like it should be fine

I’ve got a good feeling Holloway has a great game…..odd I know, but I just have that gut feeling!

Sorry I have nothing to add because I haven't watched one second of BYU play basketball this year, but I just wanted to hear this board's opinion on the game.
We match up well with BYU. They're a poor man's Kentucky, a UK team that we have beaten three times this year. BYU likes to shoot 3s like us but they don't push with the same pace as we do and it's not even close. They have a lot of length in their lineup but not exactly a whole lot of size in the frontcourt, I'm not sure how they're going to be able to handle Cliff or Nelson. Since they jack up so many 3s, long rebounds could be an issue for us since our backcourt is significantly smaller but I don't think that advantage is going to be the most impactful.
UK also can't run anyone off the 3-point line, they're near the bottom in the country when it comes to 3-point defense, both attempt, and percentage. If there was a game to get the backcourt's confidence back shooting the ball, it'll be this one. Their overall defense is pretty bad as well, it's interesting to see people knock Bama in this game for their defense (which has improved) but conveniently don't bring up BYU is worse in basically every way.
BYU's main advantage over most teams is their bench, they don't skip much of a beat production-wise. However, that advantage becomes a bit more negligible when playing another team with a deep bench like us.
It'll be a shootout for sure but I see Bama pulling away late and winning by 9+ points.

Houston sure knows how to handle them. Held BYU to mid 50s both times. If we do that, we win.

He's quick as hell, and BYU sucks at defending 3s. He's definitely a prime candidate to breakout.

And Houston won by an average of about 25 points. I had also forgotten that Ole Miss beat BYU by double digits back in late November.

Roll Tide tonight. Beat BYU

Roll Tide, let’s do this!
One thing I’ll note, it’s nice going into a game knowing your coach isn’t a liability. I remember watching the NCAAT during the Mark Gottfried years thinking we needed our players to outperform enough to make up for some coaching blunders. I’ve never felt like that with Oats (not even against Hurley last year but that was mainly because we were playing with house money).
I still don’t trust timeout use or late game inbound plays, but it’s nice knowing the game plan is going to be solid, adjustments will be made, and mostly will just come down to execution.

As bad as BYU is defending the 3, this game has Holloway written all over it; he's by far our most consistent perimeter shooter, and looks will definitely be there. His biggest issue is getting lost on screens, but I'm hoping we switch or hedge enough that it will compensate for that.
I do think we need to play drop coverage on Demin, though. He's only 28% from 3 and does way more damage dishing the rock and scoring at the rim than he does from the perimeter.

I think we all know what that means.
He'll be 7 of 9 tonight on contested, late clock 3s.

I hope Saint realizes he needs to start the game thread with this for good luck:
