I know Saban believes in the trail technique, but I believe it’s because he thinks the odds of the other team having a laser accurate QB are in our favor.
The problem is when you face a team that does, and our corners just look silly.
I will say that in the past we have had better safety play which does help with this technique. Maybe Downs will be more instinctual in this manner.

Sort of — pattern matching with outside leverage and low vertical leverage (short), which as you said, is a trail technique.
One of the reasons why is because that low vertical leverage forces the receiver into the safety (deep).

Typical counters to his system are motion or stacks/bunches to force off-man coverage, which is why we see it so much.
So in other words, if the coverage is executed correctly, it's the safety who gets beat by an elite QB. If the coverage becomes off-man due to the pre-snap concept, it's probably more on the corner not being able to get proper leverage.

It's either VIDIC or ASPIC. They probably dress up in medieval costumes on the weekends.

Saban has had the same philosophy forever. We explain it every year. He is a percentage guy. What gives the better chance of an incompletion.

Having lived in Tampa I can say for certainty that that game is going to suck major arse for the fans.
It will probably rain for 5 minutes an hour before kickoff and the humidity will skyrocket.

Good news is that there is a decent Alabama community down there so we shouldn't have a problem being a presence in the stadium. Seems like every time I am in Tampa/St. Pete I see Bama gear.
