I agree but the brow beating seems to be over the top regarding this one player. Whether he starts or not is immaterial for me. He will be available for scrimmages with a depleted OL roster. Like non coaches on this site know better than our new OL coach. We are going to be more run heavy and this might be up his wheel house.

I concur. I trust that Saban and company will maximize our personnel use the best they can. They have too much at stake not to. I can see fans questioning judgement calls, though, as long as it doesn't get too negative and out of hand.

It is a forum for discussion, brochacho. We don't have to like everything our coaches and players do to be fans.
This is true but understanding and recognition of our VERY limited expertise compared to theirs would often be welcome. I.e., just a little sane and genuine humility. (Sometimes fans are completely out of line in their critique of a coach. There were many Alabama fans who continuously posted to the effect that Bill O'Brien was an idiot. He graduated from Brown an Ivy Leagues school with real degrees in political science and organizational behavioral management. Doesn't guarantee that he will be a good football coach but he's not an idiot.)

If any of us were fortunate enough to be joined in our viewing experience by a former OC at Samford everyone would likely be delighted and mention it prominently as we shared his insights on the board; even though he would be critiquing the greatest coach in history at the highest level of college football, whom we sometimes accuse of being oblivious to the "obvious" errors he makes. Yes, he makes mistakes, as does everyone, but I assume an overwhelming majority of the ones we point out are not accurate. Even when the coach makes a change corresponding to what we've advocated, it is probably for reasons of which we are oblivious.

The HC must consider many things of which we are not aware, just like bosses in a corporation.

Finally, just because we are on a legal public forum (from which the hosts seek profit) doesn't mean that it is profitable for the program for a poster to make a particular comment. And yes, msg boards make a difference. Not that the coaches are taking advice but because it's how the media, thus often the players, gauge a fan base's condition and attitude. It affects other fans too, and often creates a toxic environment around a program. And it affects recruits.

Personally, there are things I think and say in private that I would never say in public.

After reviewing body cam and video of the incident, no charges will be pressed according to the DA.

So how does Oregon feel about dismissing him now? Did not even wait for the investigation to complete. Very unfair to Traeshon.

College Football Executives Considering Four Changes to Shorten Games (SI)

The rule changes, which include the game clock continuing to run after incomplete passes, could be implemented this fall.

Yeah, let's change the rules to try and shorten games instead of just limiting tv timeouts

Maybe dumber than the clock running after a kickoff they tried for a year. Just go to nfl clock rules if it’s that important.

Clock runs after first downs and out of bounds plays except in last two minutes of first half and last 5 minutes of 4th quarter. Quit all this other nonsensical madness.

I think the first three suggestions are fine. The third - running clock after first down except under 2 minutes in each half - is much needed in a world where the commercials put the game on my TV screen. The fourth is just silly and will not happen.

Offenses, many of which already operate in a hurry-up mode, would move to “super turbo,” as one official said, potentially negating the elimination of plays and heightening the risk of injury.

These officials have a hard enough time keeping up with what’s going on during the game. Especially in the SEC.

Never put it past the ppl in charge of implementing rule changes to frick it up.

Just leave shite the way it is for right now. They don’t have to follow the NFL on this, that league is fricked up enough.

The officials need to speed up their prior play review process. TV coverage accomplishes it thoroughly in a small fraction of the time the officials take. That'd probably shorten elapsed time for CFB games more than all 4 of those changes they're considering.

Although the Crimson Tide is a month away from holding its first offseason practice, some things about the 2023 team already stand out.
