Pulling for Earle to make some noise this year at WR and PR

I just don't see Saban not putting Gibbs for KR and PR.

Burton and Brooks outside and Jojo in the slot.

That doesn't do a lot to excite me. Saban made it pretty clear that Burton is the #1. But I have no idea what kind of playmaker he will he for us. The fact that none of the other guys were able to outperform him in the spring and summer isn't promising in terms of their development. Brooks and Earle have been inconsistent.

Not sure any of these dudes are first rounders and, like it or not, that's the standard around here.

I’m guessing if we played today it would be Burton and Brooks outside and Jojo in the slot. Holden, Leary rotating in. We will see if anyone else can elevate and be game ready. I was most excited about Anderson but he’s out for a few weeks which really delays his development and almost assures we won’t see him anytime soon. Maybe Preston or Bonds can work their way in. Saban didn’t sound high at all on the UL transfer. Talking about needing him to channel things in the right direction. That almost sounds like attitude or effort issue to me.

That's not how I heard.... He's not 100 percent. Saban said that.

If I had to bet my money on WR depth going to Game 1.. It would be Burton, Brooks and Harrell/Earle. I think we'll see Leary/Anderson on field as well. Out of all Freshmen, I think Aaron Anderson is likely to see significant playing time throughout the season. Rest will be seeing special team.

This isn't 100 percent true. Saban said outside Burton, other receivers weren't consistent with their routes, catching ball and making right play. Look at their depth chart at WR.Not lot of experience there. so, Harrell will come along. Aaron Anderson isn't 100 percent. Holden and Leary- we'll learn a lot about them as season goes on.

Exactly right. But there are the same ones on here and other sites than continuously push the negative narrative. I'm excited about the wide receivers. Niblack looks like a freak at tight end too.

Yeah, I heard that part. What did you make of Saban's quote about needing him to "channel things in the right direction"? That clearly has nothing to do with an injury. Sounds like a very minor injury (that perhaps Saban think TH should be playing through--hurt vs. injured as Saban has spoken about) plus something else. Attitude? Work ethic? Who knows. Hopefully he gets healthy and gets it together because we need someone to take the top off defenses this year.

You'll get murdered on this board for posting anything that isn't unicorns and rainbows but I get what you're saying. I will say that I'm higher on Burton than you seem to be. I really think he's every bit as good as Metchie was. He'll be legit. Beyond that, things are a little concerning. No proven playmakers who have done it consistently. Brooks has potential but last year he'd make a big play and disappear for stretches (was non-existent in the natty when we needed a WR to step up). Jojo just hasn't impressed me. Seems to drop the ball too much and I haven't seen the speed or shiftiness that he was rumored to posses. Holden is basically a big/slowish possession guy. Leary looks promising but has hardly played. Hilton hasn't been super impressive thus far. Alot of questions to be answered after Burton. We need some of the new guys to shine.

I think you could have said the same going into last year with Williams being the #1. He wasn't anything extremely special at OSU stat wise, but always could take the top off a defense. Then he went to Bama and showed out.

This is the group I'm watching. It seemed to be a weakness behind the top 2 last season and showed up big in the NCG.

I hope we get an OSU/Bama game this season. Hope OSU has gotten its defense back to being really good as it has the talent just needs to get the right guys in the right places

Yeah but Saban came out and made it pretty clear that Jameson was showing out and would be a big contributor. He made some similar statements about Burton but I guess I'm just not convinced yet. Is he a first round pick? I don't know. I hope so.

I had high hopes that Harrell was gonna be that guy. Not giving up on him yet.

Harrell and Ricks transferred from a school who had a different process/how they handled things. Alabama operates differently, how they handle injuries, work ethics, doing small things... things like that in general. So channel things in right directions, it's probably related to how they respond to the environments around them and how they handle it. It can be injuries, it can be weight room, it can be life in general.

I still think Harrell will be that third guy.

Game 1: Burton/Brooks/Harrell and/or Earle.

Agree.
I actually expect Burton, Brooks, & Leary to show out early.I really think people are sleeping on Leary.
He did not get a lot of plays last yr, but one think sticks out about the kid is his speed. Jojo early playbook knowledge wise earned more early opportunities last season.
But I think leary is coming on and will get shots over the top.I think out of the freshman WR's that Preston and(Anderson if healthy) will be pushing for playing time.

Based off that early video I really like The size Niblack & also Miles Kitselman are at already as for yr one in the program.

Bryce Young on transfers:

LINK /

quote:

Tyler Harrell, 6-0, 194, Redshirt Junior, 18 receptions, 523 yards (long 92), 6 touchdowns as redshirt sophomore

Young: “He’s been working really hard. He's been asking a bunch of questions, soaking everything in. And then obviously throughout the offseason, we've seen a lot of speed. So down the field, he ran really well. He’s run a lot of stuff down the field, and being explosive is something that is definitely a premium for us. But really what sticks out is a willingness to learn. We’re right next to each other in the locker room. He's been asking me questions, signals, things that I like, stuff that he likes, just bouncing stuff off. So his willingness to learn, how quickly he can pick up on things, I think what he can do on the field is special on top of that. That stuff has really stuck out with me a lot.”
