It’s dumb that they don’t allow reporters in at all anymore. Saban used that covid shutdown to set a new standard of no media access. I guess I get it, but fans are hungry for pics and video. UA releases crumbs. Meh.

Before covid, media only had access to initial warmups and drills. So, their "reports" we're merely what order players were in (or not in) the drill lines.

That stuff had some use though. Obviously not 100% accurate but it did usually line up with where the depth chart ended up by the first game week.

I think it was more the sort of “roll call” reporters would do to see who might be missing/injured. I’ve heard a few beat reporters reference that as a reason for things staying closed off.

Yeah, Idk why so many reporters and fans desire to prematurely speculate on who'll be the 1s & 2s. The coaches themselves are working throughout fall camp to figure it out.

Common theme I took away from coaches press conferences today:

Lot of leadership at every level, there is competition at CB position, JUCO TE might contribute at TE.... Milroe is progressing well.... Latu is fighting hard to get back on field... Golding said there is competition at ILB next to TooToo and Lawson has made serious push foe the position.

Tyler Harrell has not been practicing at 100% so far. The Louisville transfer has talent but needs to channel it in the right direction, Saban said.

Saban on injuries:

quote:

Saban said Cam Latu has a minor knee injury and will be out "a couple weeks."

Isaiah Hastings came in with an injury, will "be back shortly."

Elijah Pritchett tore his pec in workouts, will be "out a little."

Aaron Anderson has a knee injury, will be back in a few weeks.

Sucks for Pritchett, this is a critical time for developing strength for a first-year OL. Can't lift hardly at all with a torn pec. I would not expect to see him at all this season.

Pritchett was likely going to redshirt anyway. Brockermeyer needs to be ready in case his number is called.

BOB said they're doing mix and match on OL. I think it's for depth reason.

Looking like a monster is over rated. We need him to be a monster and bring several other monsters with him.

Yeah, I mispoke. I get why the media guys do it. But imo, it's silly for fans to debate about it so fervently.
