Depth..Hell if Bama had any depth the two starters wouldn't even be playing.

15 games is too many in my opinion. Main reason I don't like expanding the playoff. Keeping guys healthy for that long is a real problem. Maybe we need to extend the season and have a guaranteed two bye weeks if not three.

I also don't like CFP expansion, but I don't think more byes will help prevent injuries.

4 is all you need. When UT and OU are added, it is going to make it difficult for two SEC teams to get into that group of 4 due to one will have 2 losses.

Was thinking about injuries and wondering why Alabama has had so many over the years.

Could it be the cumulative number of games, including conference championships and playoffs, plus the intensity of Alabama practices?

Over the course of a pcareer, could wear down the body, but it doesn’t explain freshman or players like Jameson.

I don't know how giving guys time to heal up from knicks rather than playing through it wouldn't help to prevent more serious injury. Eliminate - of course not.

Yeah. 13-2, SEC Champs, fell short in the national title game (mostly due to top 2 WR being injured and several dropped passes). Considering that's our bottom floor, after last season's Natty (13-0) and so many NFL draftees, we're truly blessed and should feel thankful and proud of this year's gritty team.

Not surprised in the least that the people melting the most about last night (calling out individual coaches/players who "ain't it", etc.) are the same people that just KNEW we sucked after Florida, A&M, LSU, and Auburn. And just KNEW we were going to get absolutely exposed and crushed by UGA in ATL and miss the playoffs entirely.

Yet we won the SEC and fell 8 minutes short of a repeat with key injuries galore.

JW with a torn ACL. Hate it for him, he was going to be a top 10 pick.

Depending on his draft stock, does he come back next year?

Without seeing raw data I am not sure I am correct in my assumption but I think something that may get overlooked at a place like is the level we recruit at. But I would need to compare it to other top programs as well that recruit on the same level.

My assumption is when recruiting a 5 star or high level player we do looking at their HS stats many of these kids play every snap and sometimes on both sides of the ball. So I would assume the higher the level of recruit coming out of HS probably already has more wear and tear on him then a lower tiered recruit.

Example a 5 star RB carrying his team to the state championship is possibly seeing 30-40% more carries then a 3 star. A 5 star WR same thing plus playing as a DB and returner on special teams. Some of these guys carry their whole team throughout HS. So they have taken a beating before coming here. Put that on top of the camps, All American events, and 7 v 7 tours.

It wold be interesting to see the number of injuries per star rating and between top programs in college vs lower tiers.

Some coaching names to watch for based on some of the guys I listen to...

Karl Scott to replace Valai (I think this is already trickling into the message boards with the news of him not going to join UF/Napier.

Also, a VERY VERY good chance of Pruitt returning as a position coach (and not even as a DC... unless Golding to Miami happens.. and it might). Despite what's being said about his situation with the NCAA publicly, it sounds like he's been cleared. Sunseri retiring is a strong possibility.

Haven't heard an OL coach name yet, but it sounds like Marrone and O'Brien back to the NFL.

As OC, sounds like CNS may take another shot at Lebby, despite him already being at OU. If/when that doesn't happen, Mullen and Kendall Briles are the first two to look for.

None of this is likely earth shattering and some of the names or most are already being discussed on the regular message boards. But, those ate the names being floated around currently.

Another possible guy to watch (based on no info) could be Joe Judge. He may want to stay in the NFL, though.

Pruitt and Scott would be BIG recruiting upgrades, though. Hopefully those two happen.

Yeah I think their working relationship would make Saban and Kiffin look like a bunch of sunshine and rainbows. Mullen is one of the most egotistical assholes in college football.
