So, according to the map that Surge just posted, they're going to give it time for the eye to get closer to Oxford.

Chatter from BOL insiders watching practice this week: Brian Branch is getting reps with ones and performing so well he might play a lot or even start at safety on Sat.

Maybe he will come in and shore up the back end of the D from a tackling standpoint

That map shows it'll already be weakened to a tropical depression by then, so that's more time for it to weaken further. They're forecasting a rainy and breezy Saturday night in Oxford.

Based on their observations of practice, that's what a couple of insiders are speculating.

There won’t be an eye at that point. There will be a stiff breeze by 730 in Oxford Saturday night.

This is beyond silly to me. If the situation is unpredictable enough to move the game, why are you only moving it 1.5 hours?

Like people are any more certain, 48+ hours out, of what the conditions will be at 6:30pm as opposed to 5:00pm....

Maybe "unpredictable" isn't why they moved the kickoff time. Official watches for severe weather are issued 48 hours in advance. Would it suit you (and upvoters of your post) better if they moved the kickoff to our shared bye-week due to the rainy breezy weather forecast for Oxford this Saturday evening?

Changing the game time by 90 minutes is purely for TV.
If it's for the weather, you'd need to start earlier.

The decision to move it was because the LSU game got moved to an earlier time. Not because of the weather for the Bama game.

Since the storm is expected to be a rapidly weakening tropical depression by Saturday evening, starting earlier isn't really a good move. Starting it later makes sense for both weather and TV reasons.

It'll never be that strong in northern mississippi anyway.
I just figure you could get the game started before any rain arrives.
But, perhaps that isn't possible, either.

Not the best decision by the SEC. I doubt the game kicks off on schedule.

The Bama officials were probably against playing the game in T-Town. They probably didn't want to have back to back games in Oxford the next two years and have to play 5 SEC road games next year. Plus the lost revenue.

You would not have to. Just flip the series the series. I thought LSU and Mizzou did with their change so that next game will be at LSU.
