Let's be honest the only way we're getting in the playoff is if Georgia, Utah and Oklahoma lose AND we beat Auburn.
They're setting it up for us to be left out.

I dont know about that but we need to at least make them leave us out. Did anyone else think we played more physical on defense in the last game ?

I agree. The good thing is that relative to how many things we need to happen, there is a decent chance that all of those things do happen.

Georgia is going to get beat in Atlanta and if they don’t, well, the melt on here might almost make up for the disaster that will cause our playoff hopes.

I have been railing this past week that OU does not belong in this conversation based on 1) their past playoff history of one and dones 2) their horrendous loss to 7-4 Kansas State and 3) their numerous close calls against likewise mediocre teams. So let’s all be Okie Lite fans this weekend and hope that they end the Sooner charade. If not, we have to root for Baylor to win the Big XII title game BUT...I am leery the committee might leapfrog a 1 loss Big XII champion Baylor over Alabama if Baylor avenged that only loss. That’s an uncomfortable situation for Bama fans. So GO POKES!

I am convinced if Utah wins out, they’re in despite an ugly loss at home to #25 USC. Colorado is dog shite so they won’t be able to pull off the upset so we must hope Mario and the Ducks win the PAC 12 title game to help us out.

Minnesota is technically still alive and controls their own destiny if they could somehow row the boat to wins over Wiskey and Ohio State. I don’t see that happening.

A Clemson loss would be a nice early Christmas present but that isn’t likely either.

The playoff rankings will have Georgia at 4, us at 5, Utah at 6 and Oklahoma at 7. If any of those win out, we aren't getting in.

While Utah could get a bolster by beating Oregon, that potential boost took a hit last Saturday. Furthermore, Utah's SOS is not very good. Oklahoma is not passing the eye test and needs to come back from big deficits and sneak by average teams each and every week.

Between the 1-loss teams of Alabama, Utah, and OK, Alabama would have a very good argument for being the higher ranked team of the 3. Remember, conference championships are nothing more than one of the 3 potential tie-breakers a committee member can use to separate teams they deem as equal. Utah could maybe be equal in a member's mind - but I don't think any reasonable person can think OK is as good as Alabama. We don't struggle with average teams.

LINK ]Nick Saban provides several injury updates to start Auburn week (BamaOnLine)
quote:

Phidarian Mathis

A couple of Alabama’s injured players that missed the Western Carolina game this past weekend will be active for the start of Auburn preparation.

Wide receiver Henry Ruggs III (ribs) and defensive lineman Phidarian Mathis will be back to practice Monday afternoon, head coach Nick Saban said, although the duo will “still be evaluated day-to-day.” Defensive linemen Raekwon Davis (ankle) and DJ Dale (knee) are still considered day-to-day with their injuries, and kicker Will Reichard (hip) remains out.

Against the Catamounts last week, the Crimson Tide played with seven scholarship defensive linemen. Right now, it seems like it will get at least one of the four injured linemen back in time for Saturday’s Iron Bowl in Mathis, but the young players gained invaluable experience in the final home game of 2019 with Davis, Dale, Mathis and LaBryan Ray (foot) all sidelined.

“I think they did a pretty good job,” Saban said after the game. “I thought that, especially on the inside runs, for the most part, we did a pretty good job. I think any plays that they made were on boots, edges, losing contain on the quarterback -- not really something that the interior guys had a lot to do with. … I felt like we were controlling the line of scrimmage pretty well.

“Now, obviously their guys aren’t as big and as physical as what we’re going to face in the future, but I was not disappointed. And I’m sure the experience did them a lot of good.”

Alabama will hold its first practice of Auburn week at 4 p.m. CT. In that, quarterback Mac Jones will begin his third week as the Crimson Tide’s quarterback and first for a game of the road.

I know they are tricky injuries with a hip flexor but I just can’t believe our kicker has missed most if the year because he kicked the turf/tee wrong . Bout sums up our luck this year with injuries

Practice report nugget:
quote:

Defensive linemen Raekwon Davis (ankle), Phidarian Mathis and Byron Young were the first three defensive linemen through drills. Earlier Monday, head coach Nick Saban said Mathis would return to practice but Davis and DJ Dale (knee) would be day-to-day. Davis and Mathis moved well through individual drills, while Dale was off to the side and limited. Defensive lineman Christian Barmore also went through drills with no signs of limitations. Barmore briefly visited the sideline medical tent in Saturday’s Western Carolina game.

Looking like Dale won't be available for the Auburn game, that is a huge loss.
