Proctor was certainly not highly graded and Mclaughlin didn't stand out but I thought both guards and the RT played their asses off.

speaking of the OL can anyone explain why Lathem was not moved to LT, which is the normal move when the LT spot is open. The blindside has hurt us badly this year.

Switching from right to left isn’t as easy as it sounds. All the footwork, protections, etc. are exactly the opposite. We’ve had several guys that did it. But Latham was either not able to or we are avoiding having growing pains at both tackle spots and not just one.

I thought the offensive line (including the TE/RB in pass pro) played well on Saturday.

I think the learning curve for Proctor was underestimated. His gaining weight instead of losing weight going into fall practices probably didn't help. At this point it's likely too late to move Latham without impacting both LT and RT positions for the worse.

Saban explained it. He said moving him would weaken the right side more than it would strengthen the left.

Yeah, I think the hope is Proctor gets good enough and the right side can become dominant. Right side really isn’t a problem right now with Roberts. Booker has done well too. It really comes down to Proctor not being a disaster in 3rd and medium to long passing situations and McLaughlin snapping it well.

Yup, here's an article on what Saban said:

Need to get more movement in the run game as well. Running between the tackles has yielded minimal yardage.

We get better push on the right side, but overall on runs between the tackles we've been alright.
Jase McClellan & Roydell Williams
A Gaps : 50 rushes, 237 yards, 4.74 YPA
B Gaps : 44 rushes, 194 yards, 4.41 YPA
C Gaps : 31 rushes, 197 yards, 6.35 YPA
D Gaps : 64 rushes, 274 yards, 4.28 YPA
Those D gap, outside runs are where it'd be really nice to get Jam and Haynes more involved.

The A and B gap averages surprise me. Feels like about 2.5 YPA. Maybe skewed by MTSU and a couple drives against Arkansas?

I think that we have a chance to run the football against LSU. People seem to just see our YPA or total rushing yardage number and assume we are a bad running team. But those stats are destroyed by all the sacks. The actual running back rush numbers are not elite, but they are pretty solid (4.51 YPA). And the last 2 games, against 2 pretty solid run defenses, our RBs ran for 5.44 YPA.
Per Sharp (an analytics stat group), below are our opponents to date by rush defense (taking into account their opponents to date, not just raw stats) and our RB YPA against them.
#7 Texas A&M (3.00)
#9 Texas (3.15)
#11 Tennessee (4.09)
#29 Ole Miss (4.62)
#33 Mississippi St (4.30)
#48 Arkansas (6.97)
LSU is ranked #76 in their rush defense metric. They'll be the worst run defense we've played since South Florida.
They've given up at least 3.51 YPA rushing in every game they've played this season (including Army and Grambling).
FSU : 135 yds, 3.97 YPA
Grambling : 163 yds, 5.62 YPA
Mississippi St : 94 yds, 4.48 YPA
Arkansas : 137 yds, 3.70 YPA
Ole Miss : 317 yds, 6.47 YPA
Mizzou : 116 yds, 5.52 YPA
Auburn : 139 yds, 4.09 YPA
Army : 151 yds, 3.51 YPA

This is a crazy catch by our D patch man Burton. Ball is going left here he jumps and is going right and snatches the ball out of the air like one of those trick dogs does to a Frisbee.
I was at the game and didn't realize how hard this catch was and it's probably a pick if he doesn't get it.
It's about 3:20 in the highlighted video above if you wanna see it in motion.

That was a great catch by Burton but an absolute dumb throw by Jalen. Burton was bracketed three defenders. Jase was wide open on the right side.
Turned out great, though.

anybody else notice how many times a play would have done better if 11 would just block somebody? There's been so many plays where if he would just put a pad on a guy we would gain a ton more yards. Even on 2s touchdown run against UT he totally whiffed on his block.
