Arkansas LSU was actually a close game. Back and forth all day. Arky led at half. Our game vs Arky was 24-6 with another defensive stop end of 3rd…then we melted down. If that flag isn’t thrown we probably win like 30-13 or 31-13.
If the FG block return for TD wasn’t taken away vs A&M then we probably win that one 31-17.
If those scores hold up our casual fans would probably feel much different about our team.
Playing at home is a gigantic advantage in the SEC. We should beat Tennessee and LSU. We could still certainly lose both of those games with the way this team performs but I feel good about it right now.

The AP poll yesterday still has Oregon ranked ahead of us and UNC jumped us.
Oregon barely lost on the road to a team already ranked above them at #7, and UNC collected a double-digit win against a team that was in the top 25 last week. They're undefeated at the moment. It's not that big of a deal.
We dicked around with a 2-4 Arkansas team in the 2nd half and so we didn't move. We didn't exactly give them a reason to move us up to 8-9 with that performance. That can be remedied this week, again on Nov 4th, and by winning the SEC CG against probably a top ranked UGA team

That would have been true a few years ago, but the committee proved last year that they want Bama to die off - putting TCU ahead of us was all politics.
We had two losses.
It had nothing to do with politics.

The media and college football experts are not impressed with the current Bama squad as they should be unimpressed. Bama should eke out a win against Tennessee; however, I think most are expecting LSU and Jayden Daniels to go off in Tuscaloosa and put Bama out of contention for good.
That said, if Bama wins out which includes the SECCG, I don't see how they aren't in unless Georgia stumbles along the way and there are multiple one loss teams still ahead of Bama. Think Michigan or OSU with a close loss to one or the other with UW, UNC or FSU with OU or Texas all ahead of Bama in the final polls.

Beating UT should get us to 9 or so regardless of what Oregon/UNC do this week, though a Wash St upset of Oregon would be helpful.
Penn St/OSU game will be interesting. I don't see either team falling behind us in next week's poll unless OSU blows PSU's doors off.
A Duke upset of FSU could send FSU tumbling out of the top 10.
Ole Miss, TX and LSU all winning would strengthen our SOS.
Not sure how realistic a UCF upset of OU is.
We've needed strange shite to happen before and it has. College Football is a sport built on chaos and there's usually 1-2 teams that make it in nobody really saw happening weeks before the final slate is set.

Going to be tough if Leonard can't play.

The flag isn't the reason it went from 24-6 to 24-21. The fact we couldn't complete a pass was the reason. That's been our MO all year long, we're a boom or bust offense. When we stop hitting chucking it deep, we run into long stretches of 3 and outs or short drives which leads to high stress on the defense. The wheels come off shortly after.
Maybe it ends up 27-21, but we couldn't move the ball and it wasn't because a simple facemask flag. The difference between us fumbling the West in an easy year and winning it is hitting simple throws

A lot of fans have been asking, "Why not move Latham to LT!?" Well, today Saban explained why he hasn't moved Latham to LT:
247 Article
quote:
"Well, he's really a good right tackle," Saban said. "He's played really well, obviously, being SEC offensive lineman of the week. He had a really good game in the last game. He's big, strong, physical. He's the prototype right tackle that everybody would look for in terms of having a power guy who is effective in being able to pass block well enough."
quote:
"I guess you always hope that if we move the right tackle to left tackle, that would make everything better," Saban continued Monday. "But I guess the question you also have to ask yourself is would that make us any better at right tackle? Or do you just try to attack the solution of trying to get the left tackle to play to the standard that you need him to play, without making multiple changes to the offensive line. We can have a debate about that. Nobody really knows the answer to that.
quote:
"But we have made a commitment to try to keep some stability with the guys where they're playing, and get the guys to play left tackle better."

lol I still want Latham at LT and Proctor or Pritchett at RT
I posted this a while back but I'd love to see from left to right: Latham, Proctor, Seth, Booker, Pritchett
I think that would be a solid OL but I'm just some ex-strength coach that hasn't coached a game of football in over a decade

And the fact that our running game is soooo inconsistent and often times downright shitty.
And we gave up like 5 3rd and longs.

Roberts has looked pretty good at RG though, so I don't know that you want to take him out of the lineup. I think Booker and Roberts are both great guards that may be able to help Seth with his blocking.
I think the easiest fix is just give the LT a TE to help out (although our TEs have been blocking pretty poorly and Dippre is now injured, so maybe not such an easy fix).

So our Oline is going to continue to suck. Ok, got it.

Make Pritchett a TE and teach them to work together.

Too bad Randolph isn't still on the roster. He was pretty good at playing the extra OL/TE blocker role.

Having two traffic cones on the OL instead of one doesn't seem like an upgrade to me even if they're in spots where they can do less damage.

A 12-1 SEC Champ is in the playoff. No reason to even entertain otherwise.

The weekly conference honor is the first this year for Latham and the Tide's seventh this season.
