We are somehow 6.5 point favorites over Ole Miss.

The No. 10/10 Alabama football team defeated South Florida 17-3 Saturday evening in Raymond James Stadium. The Crimson Tide and Bulls were deadlocked in a 3-3 tie at intermission, however, back-up quarterback Ty Simpson led the team to 17 unanswered points to pull out the victory.

Simpson was solid after being inserted into the lineup late in the first half. For the night, he competed 5-of-9 passes for 73 yards and guided the Crimson Tide to all three of its scores - a field goal just before halftime and touchdown drives of 84 yards in the third quarter and 80 yards in the fourth quarter to take the victory.

Running back Roydell Williams had a career game, rushing for 129 yards on 17 carries (7.6 yards per carry) and a touchdown in the victory. As a team, Alabama ran the ball for a total of 203 yards on 42 carries for a 4.8 yards per rush.

The defense was dominant, allowing only a first quarter field goal after a muffed punt deep in Alabama's territory. The Tide was led by Deontae Lawson's 10 total tackles which included 1 sack and 1.5 tackles for loss. Meanwhile, Dallas Turner also had a big game with 2.5 sacks and seven total tackles, including five unassisted.

Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban updated the Crimson Tide's injury report following the 17-3 win over USF.

*Alabama DL Jaheim Oatis did not play on Saturday. Saban said that he is dealing with an ankle injury.

*Alabama OG Tyler Booker was named a captain but later missed the game with what Saban said was "back spasms."

*Alabama DB DeVonta Smith missed his third consecutive game with a foot injury.

*Alabama WR Kendrick Law was not in Tampa with the Crimson Tide. Saban said he was "very sick."

*Alabama DB Jaylen Key left the game in the second quarter with an injury.
He returned to the game after the lightning delay.

I don’t understand people who are arguing that yesterday proves that Milroe wasn’t the problem. To me, it proves he wasn’t the only problem. However, his interceptions against Texas weren’t caused by the pressure. He still stares down receivers and can’t read a defense.

You're not wrong. But not playing him doesn't really give him a chance to grow from it.

Buchner clearly doesn't have it. Simpson might but his protection was terrible which doesn't help getting him any sort of confidence or rhythm.

I think given the way yesterday's game went, Milroe probably gave us the best chance to succeed with his speed, similar to how their QB's speed was their only offensive pulse really.

Luckily, multiple SEC teams looked rough yesterday, including our next opponent.

I don't trust Milroe to run the ball effectively with this OL. I don't know why some of y'all are willing to. Plus Milroe turns the ball over. Milroe is too boom or bust with him busting around 75% of the time.

Probably has something to do with the other two QBs being worse than Milroe.

With Milroe we at least have some "boom." With the other guys all we have is "bust."

At least two of the plays Simpson was sacked on he had like 3 or more seconds in the pocket and due to awful pocket awareness he got sacked.

Milroe isn't the answer. Doesn't know when to run or pass. Has no intermediate passing. Can't read the defense. Turnover prone.

If Simpson won't turn the ball over he should be the starter.

Alabama football fell in the US LBM Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25 on Sunday.

The Crimson Tide's ranking in college football has dropped for a second consecutive week. Nick Saban's squad is now ranked No. 12 in the coaches poll and No. 13 in the AP poll, down from No. 10 a week ago in both rankings.

The fall out of the AP top 10 ends a 128-week run in which the Alabama has been ranked in the top 10 of the poll, per the AP. It was the second-longest streak in history behind Miami who had 137 appearances in the top 10 from 1985-1993.

How can everyone not see the writing on the wall. Something in the program is not healthy.

What does it matter if he doesn't turn the ball over if we are only putting up >21 points a game?!

Folks out here spiking the football over no turnovers when we passed for 100 yards and attempted 3 passes all day more than 10 yards downfield. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.

Of course he didn’t do anything bad, because he hardly did anything at all. One of us could have played QB yesterday and gotten the same result.

You’ve got to be able to move the ball and score in today’s game. Simply not turning it over, alone, won’t cut it.

But I guess we can try to be Iowa since folks seemed so fired up about it. ¯\_(?)_/¯

This was pretty much the Jalen Hurts’ game plan in 2016. Protect the ball and ride the defense. We may not like it, but Saban is comfortable winning that way.
