Agreed. We can’t win a Natty with him at the helm. Ceiling is a New Years six bowl game. UGA will eat him alive.

Only a few days ago Saban said that just because a guy starts doesn't mean that's the end of it. Everyone here expected Milroe to be QB1 for the first game

Yeah, I doubt anything has really changed.

I have a question for you on the practice tomorrow regarding all QBs. One thing I have read a couple of places is that Lonergan has the best arm of the group. Was hoping to get your opinion based on what you see. He may not even get reps, but was just curious.

Friend, let’s let the young man demonstrate his offseason development against opponents before getting in our feelings.

At the scrimmage his first play was a bomb. I’m not sure he has the strongest arm but he throws a nice ball. I was impressed with him.

This is the best attitude. Whether you want him to start or not, give him a chance. We were screwed when Mac Jones beat out Bryce Young, and we were screwed when Saban picked Sark to be the OC. Conversely, most were excited when we got O'Brien and Marrone and O'Brien disappointed while Marrone was a disaster.

So let's not he down on the guy just yet. If he can't get it done sometime else will take over quickly.

It's like people just choose to ignore Hurts looking like hot garbage in 2017 and then looking fantastic in 2018 after working with a new QB coach. Milroe probably doesn't have a work ethic so fanatical it borders on a personality disorder like Hurts does, but all players can improve. Sometimes it just takes a different voice in his ear. Rees could very well be that guy for Milroe.

We don’t need him ripping 30-40 yards passes. Rees’ offense runs alot of intermediate passes and QB runs. With the run game this will be a good offense.

But what happens when a really good team crowds the box and forces him to throw and be accurate along with having good ball security? I think that he will start but one or maybe two other guys will get an opportunity to show what they can do. At some point you have to throw the ball and make explosive plays. It will come in week two.

I guess I understand the general concern, but isn’t that the case for every QB? I feel like if any of them were showing themselves to be better than the others in terms of throwing accuracy and consistency then they would probably be the #1.

You only take a handful of shots way downfield. He just needs to hit a few.

Oh god, Des, Pat, and Kirk picked Bama to win the SEC Championship

Des picked Michigan to beat Bama in the NC

Pat picked Bama to beat UGA in the NC

Kirk picked Bama to beat Ohio State in the NC

They ackowledged that they've all been saying UGA is basically unbeatable...and then they picked Bama to win the SEC and the NC

Uga is basically unbeatable in their regular season matchups.

I don't doubt that they think UGA may very well win the SEC, but picking the upset is trendy. Also, none want to be on the wrong side of another Saban "you said we were dead, buried and gone" speech.

Pat referenced the moment during the NC telecast where Pollack said pretty much that right in front of Saban.

Quote from sideline reporter, and former Alabama OLB, Christian Miller on the QB situation:

quote:

“I’m excited about the group. I know a lot of people get eager to hear who’s it gonna be. I think at this point everybody kind of understands it’s pretty much Jalen Milroe’s job to lose, and that’s not from me having any intel. That’s just from he started things off in the spring game, he starts all the scrimmages, and I like that. I think he adds another dynamic to them that others can’t quite possibly add, at least as we’ve seen in terms of his athleticism. That’s just something that you don’t take lightly as a defender. We always had to game plan for that when we played quarterbacks that had running ability. It always added another layer to our game plan against those guys.”
