Some interesting names on this one
That is one depressing list.

I don't know who Brody Smoot is but I'd like to congratulate him on possibly the worse coaching candidates list I have literally ever seen.

Just keep Jackson if that’s the list. Christ that was a bad list.

There are at least four names on that list that are better coaches than the one we just had.
Posted on 5/9/23 at 6:39 pm to Freight Joker
That’s relative. I think most fans would like a coach with head coaching experience.

There are coaches with head coaching experience on that list that would also be an upgrade from Brad.

Magadan and Johnson don't look awful, but basically tying the majority of your list to anyone with baseball/coaching experience that has walked across UA's campus at some point in their lives seems shortsighted.

I played a lawyer on TV once but if it is proven that a coach betted on his team for a number of years, could the University sue that person. This would be a violation of their contract.

Absolutely.
We could potentially sue for him to repay his salary seeing as he wasn't fulfilling the role specified in his contract.

Very light crowd in Montgomery last night. Nothing like the turnout in Huntsville earlier this year. Maybe it was the weather. Or maybe there aren’t as many fans in that area. A nice setting along the River with busy train tracks right outside the fence. All in all a good night. The last midweek game of the year so JJ should have everyone at his disposal for the last two series and in Hoover. A little drama early on as Bama fell behind 2-0 but Bama scored in 4 consecutive innings and completed the sweep. Drew smoked one out of the park for the only home run of the night. Vast improvement in the midweek game department from last year to this one. On to A&M.
Midweek Slate for Baseball Finishes with 7-2 Win over Troy in Montgomery
The Tide scored seven runs across the fourth-through-seventh innings for the win on Tuesday
Alabama baseball wrapped up midweek play with a 7-2 win over Troy on Tuesday evening at Riverwalk Stadium. The non-conference victory moved UA to 33-16 overall.
Troy was first on the board with one in the second and one in the fourth before Alabama got its first run with a single tally in the home half of that fourth. The Tide then went on to score six runs over the next three innings with two in the fifth, three in the sixth and one in the seventh to put the game out of reach.
Alabama's offense produced 11 hits on the night with four players contributing multi-hit showings. Bryce Eblin led the way with a 3-for-4 effort that included a double, one RBI and a run scored. Tommy Seidl, Drew Williamson and Andrew Pinckney all tallied two hits apiece with Seidl and Pinckney each doubling while Williamson homered.
The win went to Crimson Tide reliever Aidan Moza (2-1), who contributed 2.1 scoreless frames with a hit, one walk and three strikeouts. Moza paired with Braylon Myers and Hunter Hoopes to keep the Trojans off the board across the final 5.1 frames. The loss went to Matt Mercer (1-1).
From Interim Head Coach Jason Jackson
"It was a really complete effort overall. We had to do a good job of staying focused with the delay to start and then another delay in the game. Hunter Furtado had the spot start and went out and pitched 3.2 innings for us, gave us a good start and got us into the game. Then, Aidan Moza came in, looked really sharp and did a good job of keeping it tight in the middle. Their effort gave our offense a chance to get going."

Is it possible for the University to hire the best available baseball coach and not hire someone because they have a tie to Alabama either as a player or coach?

The win was good. Didn’t get to watch or listen. Firtado have up two runs. Bullpen shut them out. How did Furtado look?

Probably had more to do with the opponent than anything else.
I attended the last Governor's Trophy (or whatever the hell they called it) game against Auburn in 2019 and it was packed. Even the outfield grass areas were full of people. I wish they could work out a deal to bring back that series.

That's a pretty low bar.
