What was Milroe thinking on third down??

Tons of space in front of him, an olineman over to block for him, and he ran 2 yards past the line and threw it. How do you not run the ball there?? We were probably looking at a 4th and goal from inside the 10 at most if he just pulls it down.

Once again, I’m thrilled with the way it ended, but that’s not a mistake you can afford to make again.

Maybe he just needed the extra room to throw.

Still airing out the occasional brain fart I guess

I assume we were thinking that 2 throws to the endzone were better than one. But he went back over the LOS so there is a chance he didn’t know the rule

I wonder how far he would have gotten.
Watching the replay, there are no Auburn players within 10 yards of him ,plus our # 52 guard was 8 yards downfield that could help with blocking. I'd imagine Milroe could have at least made it to the 10 yard line.

I think he’s easily inside the 10. I also think we lose on the subsequent shorter throw.

He did that during another drive we kicked a short FG on.

Had he ran he might have scored, but he would have for sure gotten a first down.

Yep. The second the 4th down ball left his hand I thought it looked like he put a lot on it. I was scared it was an overthrow until the camera panned and it was straight money

If you watch this Youtube video, it shows the view from behind him and the field is basically wide open, and like you said, 52 is down there to block.

Crazy sequence of plays that ultimately worked out.

Also, interesting that it was Jalen's 2 such penalty of the game. My guy needs a little better field position awareness.

Lucky he wasn't concussed from 3rd and 29.9 yard run.

With his speed and quickness, he has a chance to score on that play.

So Goombaw [and others] just made this more difficult.

Seeing #52 downfield, this also would have been a potential penalty with any pass.

I can only think he thought it was 4th down somehow…or he just panicked.

I loved how he tried to go back behind the line.

like everyone else i'm ecstatic with the outcome. however, even on the bad snap play. he could have picked the ball up and gotten proly half the lost yardage back. instead he just laid down on the ball.

p.s. i honestly thought when milroe let go of "THE" pass, he had the ghost of freddie kitchens in his arm and had thrown it into the stands, on 4th down no less.

regardless of all that, good on'ya JM4, Roll Tide

I suppose its possible he could have gotten out of there, but he had like 4 AU defenders running free directly at him. If he fumbles it trying to pick it up and run, then game over.

Tua also made a head-scratching play just before 2 and 26 by taking the sack. These things happen and make the big one that much sweeter.

It looked to me like he was trying to pick it up and just slipped.

Which, coincidentally, is very near the same spot on the field where the AU punt returner slipped fielding the fateful punt a few minutes earlier.

Conspiracy theory, anyone?

Their field was wet in 2015 when we played there. Players were having trouble with their footing all day.

I'm just glad that Saban didn't try to overthink the situation, and go with a FG-onside kick-fg ending.
