Coach has established himself and Alabama as the best of the best when it comes to game days and recruiting. Who, in your opinion would be able to come in and take over without much drop off on game days and in recruiting. I don’t want to know who you think should take over, I want to know who would be his best replacement....who is the next Nick Saban?
For example...I think Kirby has half...he has the recruiting down but hasn’t established himself as a great game day coach.

I know I am in the minority on this but I think it will be harder to hire a big name coach than people think when Saban leaves. Yes, it is a premiere job but, Coaches are making plenty of money these days and it will be a pressure cooker job

Honestly, I just don't think these conversations matter until it happens. The group of guys is going to change literally every year.

However, I can easily answer this

quote:

who is the next Nick Saban?

Nobody. And if you expect anyone to be the next Nick Saban, the "AS" years are going to be horribly bad.

If we get a decent coach , while he won’t be as successful as Saban , but he will have plenty of talent and the resources to be successful

Don’t take this personally, as I respect everyone’s right to post what they want here, but this just feels too much like a rant post.

Weeks from a national championship and the #1 ranked recruiting class and we are wanting to discuss a replacement for Saban.

Can’t we enjoy the success of the program, live in the moment and worry about a replacement when the time comes?

Everyone wants to point out Saban’s age, but he looks more fit than the majority of the other SEC coaches. He could coach another 10 years!

His replacement could be one of his own players.

What the hell is the difference?

I mean, that statement doesn't even make f**king sense.

"I think Coach A should take over, even though Coach B would be a better replacement."

Alot can happen in a few years. Could be Bill O'Brien? Matt Rhule might be out of a job. Greg Bryne prob. has an idea though. Remember how quick it took him to hire Nate Oats?

You back up a Brink’s truck to Dabo Swinney’s house, and pray he accepts. If he does, this making the playoffs 7-8 times every 10 seasons & winning 2-5 Nattys every 10 seasons train keeps on rolling for another 20 years

Dabo's schtick annoys me sometimes, but talking here today, he'd be the first call. It's all about recruiting and he could keep it at near Saban levels and has proven he can coach at a championship level. I personally think he'd be more interested than some people think. But like someone said, we're talking years down the road...names will come and go. I just hope we don't go for some flavor of the month that just had one lightning in a bottle season.

What signs that Saban plans on retiring anytime soon have there been over the last year or so to cause this same discussion to come up like once a month? If anything it seems like he is more energized than ever at this point.

Don't be surprised if, when he finally retires, it's because Terry Saban suggested to him that it's time. He's too competitive to give in to Father Time on his own.

Pretty far out there, but not my vote for the "stupdiet". I would have to go with this;

quote:

Our most saddening and sobering finding is the total disregard for the safety and welfare of Sandusky’s child victims by the most senior leaders at Penn State. The most powerful men at Penn State failed to take any steps for 14 years to protect the children who Sandusky victimized - Louis Freeh

They must have all synced their girly cycle!
Some folks get real touchy at just the mentioning of Saban’s retirement. I never said Saban is about or ready to retire...all I said was who do you think is the coach that can come the closest to keeping his torrid pace of recruiting and game day results going when he eventually retires....geez!!

Why do people want to do this to themselves, when it is going so well and CNS doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon?
A couple of thoughts. No one wants to be “Tha Man to replace Tha Man” BUT the well oiled machine that is the Alabama Football Program will be enticing to many to try and do that. I would imagine that someone like a Kiffin, Sarkisian, Cristobal, etc would all have their agents making a phone call. They would all likely get strong consideration as well.

Sort of an irrelevant conversation for at least 5 years. Probably won't retire for 10 in my most honest guess.
