Somebody will come in and say how great the other team was, like the Purdue game and the other teams are good but the formula that we keep using isn’t getting us to the mountain top. Nate needs to tweak it.
This formula got us as much success as we’ve ever had, including three straight Sweet Sixteens and a Final Four, as well as a #1 overall seed. The bottom line is the staff missed on frontcourt talent evaluations this season (Noah Williamson), and Oats has been saying since early summer that we are a bad rebounding team. Has nothing to do with the system, the Bediako/Clowney/Miller team was very good there.

LOL, he's the best Bama is going to get but he is not a great coach and I am not in favor of firing him. So suck it

Really?! It’s hard to tell how good this team is, but the weakness is clearly rebounding which is a bad thing.

If Sherrill’s leg injury keeps him out we may be .500 in conference. Can’t afford any injury there.

Rebounding is bad but shot selection lost this game. I truly think we are the more talented team but they were the better coached team. Their 7 footer didn’t take multiple threes in a tight game. He rebounded and got put backs.

There it is. Outside of one or two dumbasses, no one is questioning if he should be the coach. frick, pull it out and breathe. The same formula has beaten us outside of the one year (miller). We can ask questions while in the middle of getting our shite pushed in.

Nate Oats: "We've got rebounding issues. Until we fix them, we're not gonna be able to beat a good team."

He should have fixed that in the offseason, not much you are going to do about it now.

Just got home. We lost this game for 2 reasons.

1a) absolute coaching malpractice. One of the worst coached games of Oats career and he literally may be the worst coach I’ve ever seen, played for, heard of, etc. at time out use. I’ve never seen anything like it. The fact that we’ve been outscored by over 20 points in less than 12 minutes of game time without ever using a time out in one game is criminal. That it’s happened in 2 games in less than 2 weeks is not even something the worst little league basketball coach in the state is Alabama would do. It’s embarrassing and he should be ashamed of himself for screaming at the players and waving at them to speed up while we’re completely discombobulated and throwing the game away. Just no excuse at all for that kind of coaching.

His 3rd thing he’s terrible at hurt us tonight as well (inbounding plays).

1b) rebounding - and unfortunately this is also a lot on Oats. Several of us pointed out the weaknesses of our front court before the first tip of the season. Front court defense and defensive rebounding was a glaring weakness and we go out and sign a 7 foot guy with terrible defensive metrics in the Patriot league. But hey, at least he can shoot 3s, right coach?

Nate Oats is the best basketball coach in Bama history. I’m glad we have him. But tonight was a culmination of some very, very poor coaching. I hope he wakes up and realizes that he’s one of the main problems right now and at least learns how to give his guys the best chance to win.

We had them reeling at the half and let them off the hook . Bol Bowen and Sherrell were rejecting a lot of their inside attempts and I think it surprised them.

Oats needs to make some adjustments when he plays teams like that. Our bigs are just going to have to stay close to the basket and not shoot threes. Our freshmen are not ready for prime time against the better teams handling the ball yet.

I'd have liked to see Bethea get some more chances. we shot a lot of bricks early second half.

Post game press conference couple key notes:

-Was questioned on not calling time out. Responded “call time out and tell them play harder? If we need adjustments I call a timeout. Our issue was effort”. He’s said this before and I get his point, but you could call timeout and sit the players not giving effort. Notable that Philon was adamantly agreeing with him though. Saying they didn’t need a time out and needed more effort

-Says he wished he’d played Bethea and Hannah more because the guys he played didn’t get the job done

-Aiden had cramps. No real injury.

-“Taylor(TBB) is the easiest fix for how we can get better at rebounding. He’s 6’10” but has to want to do it. If he won’t we’ll find someone who will”.

I think TBB might be Oats least favorite player ever

What an idiotic take by Coach. He just doesn’t get it and he’s letting the team down. Almost every basketball coach in history knows that sometimes you have to call timeout to “settle your team down” when things are discombobulated. Oats’ pride and stupidity in this area has cost him multiple games in his career.
