As a college player? Could be Coop, but Coop got to play with AJ in and then with Kiffin calling plays for him specifically. Julio played on those early teams, even including 2009, that were a step behind on offense. If Kiff had Julio in an offense he would have had 9 billion yards running reverses and catching balls.
Speculation is all well and good, but all we can know for sure is what happened on the field. And on the field in college, Jones was not in the same league as Cooper. Cooper was always reliable, the picture of consistency for all 3 years. And his junior year was one of the all time greatest seasons for a receiver at any level. Jones had issues with drops and injuries throughout his time at Bama, and would sometimes go entire games without a catch. It's forgotten because Bama was undefeated and won the NC, but Jones' sophomore season was mediocre to put it gently. Cooper never really had a down season and his best season was with a converted halfback throwing to him. Part of this as well is that people have such nostalgia for the early Saban era. By the time Cooper arrived, we fans had reached the point that we expect greatness. When Jones arrived, there was more novelty around it.

Ehh, Coop's Sophomore season was somewhat of a slump, but our OL was so terrible that year (2013) that the offense had a lot of trouble with consistency. Plus Coop was banged up, though IIRC Julio was banged up a lot too.

If I were making them on NCAA 14:
Julio:
Catch: 92
Spectacular Catch:99
Catch in Traffic: 98
Speed: 99
Route Running: 90
Strength: 99
Injury: 88
Overall: 98
Cooper:
Catch: 97
Spectacular Catch:90
Catch in Traffic: 92
Speed: 95
Route Running: 99
Strength: 90
Injury: 99
Overall: 96
Julio:

Their sophomore years were very similar. Both had "sophomore slumps." And Cooper had McCarron in his senior season throwing to him, while Jones had McElroy as a first year starter.
They both had excellent freshman, and senior seasons, with Cooper having the best overall season(2014.)
Also, say what you want about Sims, but he was much, much more explosive than McElroy and JPW through the air.

How about we all agree, dem boys good.

I beat if Julio had AJ throwing to him his last 2 years he would have had amazing stats.

I agree with Remaster.
Julio is one of the greatest recievers of all time, but in terms of college, when comparing the two, both have decent arguements.
If I were making them on NCAA 14:
Julio:
Catch: 75
Spectacular Catch:99
Catch in Traffic: 90
Speed: 89
Route Running: 85
Strength:85
Injury: 70
Cooper:
Catch: 99
Spectacular Catch:90
Catch in Traffic: 90
Speed: 85
Route Running: 99
Strength:85
Injury: 90
Coop had more yards but benifited from a different offense. I'd still take him over Julio if I had to pick one.
So you are saying Julio displayed more "speed" in college than Amari?
Julio is much faster in the NFL than what he ever displayed in college. In fact, most predicted Julio was a mid 4.5x guy heading into the 2011 NFL Draft. Not sure if he was injured throughout his Bama career but he definitely didn't display more on-field speed than Amari.
It amazes me how players' NFL careers impacts people's "perception" of their college careers.

Where is Crimson Boz at? Ya'll turned this thread into a pissing match.

Heard that Henry Ruggs and Devonta Smith have both looked good and very explosive.
Also heard that Ruggs set the Bama football GPS speed record during a recent session where his speed reach 25 mph.

No way their drops were even close in college. Julio dropped balls all day every day.

What young guys are expected to get playing time?

Hey, take the Cooper vs Julio pissing contest elsewhere, don't hijack the thread. The OP was asking about summer drills. It's a subject many of us would like info on.
Cooper and Julio are two of the best receivers to ever pass through Tuscaloosa. Julio is the better pure athlete, Cooper the more prototype receiver. Both have advantages and disadvantages such as who threw to them and who had better hands. Cmon, let's all be good Bama fans and don't tard up threads. One final point: neither is suiting up in Crimson this fall, right?

When it's all said and done, Jerry Jeudy will go down as the GOAT

Is Ben Davis expecting to make a contribution? Ben and Nigel are two guys I had high hopes for on signing day.

Seen Ruggs play in person twice. Dude is legit.

Ben Davis worked some as a pass rusher outside a lot during the spring but even there we are clogged up with elite talent. Scout.com had Ben as there number 1 rated inside backer and only at place like Saban's Bama does a guy like him redshirt and struggle to get on the field the next year. With guys like Dylan Moses and Mack Wilson stepping up it will be hard for Ben to find a role outside of special teams but I wouldn't exactly count him out.
