At some point, doesn't it just become weird to still be there?

I understand the desire to continue playing, but I doubt anyone wants to be the "old guy" out there. Like someone else already said, these guys would be 23+ years old.

Aside from any guys who would be 5th year seniors - which happens all the time - I would imagine most guys around the country would be ready to move on.

I hope LaBryan Ray stays. If (finally) healthy he could soften the blow of losing Barmore to the draft.

Has to. All your buddies are gone, you are much older, graduated, some of them married. I mean McMillon has a degree in engineering and is married. His signing class was Ridley, Payne, Minkah, D. Harris, Ronnie Harrison.

Probably feels like how I felt during graduate school sitting in the fraternity section at ballgames or going to the old undergrad bars. Just did not feel like I belonged anymore.

Wish him all the best but I don’t understand why guys like him and Carl Tucker declare for the draft when they have zero chance of getting drafted. Do they have to declare officially to get an UDFA tryout?

I think it's more of they are ready to move on with life. McMillan I believe has an Engineering degree and I'm sure will do very well there. Playing another year at Alabama isn't going to do anything for him or Tucker in terms of their NFL stock.

The NFL Draft rules:

quote:

"To be eligible for the draft, players must have been out of high school for at least three years and must have used up their college eligibility before the start of the next college football season. Underclassmen and players who have graduated before using all their college eligibility may request the league’s approval to enter the draft early.

Players are draft-eligible only in the year after the end of their college eligibility."

McMillon and Tucker still have a year of eligibility, even though they are seniors, due to the weird COVID rule. So they have to declare if they want to be draft-eligible.

See this discussion on the topic.

quote:

"Due to Covid-19, the NCAA has given each player this year another year of eligibility, which on the surface sounds great but it does come with some complications with the NFL Draft process, unless the NFL changes their rules.

All players will have college eligibility left, which means any player that wants to be included in the 2021 NFL Draft must declare for the draft by the declaration deadline (which normally is around January 15th).

Since all players will have to declare, NFL scouts can’t interact with “underclassmen” (or players with NCAA eligibility left) until after the declare date. All-Star games such as the Tropical Bowl, East-West Shrine Game and NFLPA Collegiate Bowl all normally host their event before the declare date, so no scouts would be able to attended until after the declare date, unless the NFL changes their rules for this year.

NFL Combine Invites normally sent out to senior prospects after the schools bowl game will likely not be sent out since the NFL Combine won’t know for sure who is staying and who is declaring, so they will have to wait until after the declare date to send out invites."

This is a big reason why I never even considered applying to UA for my post-graduate degree. I was convinced that I wouldn't be able to successfully transition from undergrad life to being an actual adult without a change in scenery. In hindsight I know that I was 100% right too.

We just started going downtown more, lived back off of Hackberry near McFarland behind the lake (in an area now totally wiped off the map by the tornado) and stuff like that.

It actually became kind of nice - it was like being an adult but still getting to do fun college stuff in a different way (went to all the basketball games, Thursday night drinks after a real dinner, etc)

“I've definitely thought about it,” senior tight end Miller Forristall said on Dec. 29, but added that his focus was elsewhere at the time. "If I stay another year I'll push for even more guys to come back.”

I would love to see Forristall return. He seems like the kind of player that will do whatever he's asked to do. He suits up and plays even when it's obvious he's hurting. Every championship caliber team has a player like Forristall. He could be a steadying force to a green QB like Bryce Young.

Getting Forristall back would be huge - almost like returning one of the offensive linemen.

Wow. 3 rings. Who else has had 3,?

Players that stayed on the roster from 2009-12. So not all that many. I think Barrett Jones started on all 3 of those National Championship teams.

Also 5th yr seniors in 2015 (11, 12, 15). I don't recall any 6th yr seniors in 2017, but if there were any, they would also have 3.
