Yeah he was hired last offseason I believe...worried that AU would get in it because of that I remember

Literally never thought we had a legitimate shot at that point

You had Hand and Carter going to Auburn at one point

I didn't think Auburn would land him, but I figured the coach would steer him away from Bama. Glad I was wrong.

My final 5 (yeah right ):

Marlon Humphrey
Matt Elam
Rashaan Evans
Hootie Jones
CJ Hampton

If we have a decommitment or two, then add Brian Wallace.

I would take those... but add Fournette to the mix. We are making ground on him just like we did with Hand.

I remember all the hand wringing up in here about this class, now it's looking like it might end up being the goat

Best part about Hand?

quote:

"They've got a winning tradition, all the coaches care about their players and they don't lie to you, they tell you how it is. I know when I go in, I'm not going to be number one on the depth chart and I know I've got to do a lot of hard work. They had the most freshmen playing this year so anything is possible."

All those LSU crazies saying we lie to players to get them to come, read this and weep.

He knows he isn't guaranteed anything. Cam Rob said the same. They KNOW they aren't guaranteed a thing yet STILL they wanna be a part of something special.

Not just any ordinary thing. They give up self to join something special.

Welcome to the Capstone Da'Shawn. Can't wait to see you in Crimson.

Is the Hand commit considered a coup? In the sense that just about every prediction had him going to Michigan.

No. It isn't like we stole him out from under their noses. He's from Virginia. There is no way all of those people predicting him to Michigan were going off more than a hunch unless something major happened in the last week or so. I think he did a great job of playing it close to the vest and probably always had a lot more interest in us than people thought.

All I know is when I found out I stood up in my classroom and gave Nick Saban/Lance Thompson a slow clap.

It almost seems to be the case where one guy had faulty information and others swore to it.
