Seems like he could fit the Nick Gentry role. Sorry that seems almost a waste of a scholarship especially with numbers tight but maybe they have self scouted and see that piece is just something they are missing or will be down the road a piece.

Oh
I posted this earlier, but not sure if anyone saw it.
Can you imagine the trolling that a guy like Humphrey could do? It's too bad this feature will be after NSD 2014.

Yeah for it to be a JuCo prospect so only having a couple years and a guy who while he has great explosiveness and great run stopping technique and ability, has already developed and has a small frame for a DT. He could add muscle and possibly make it to Josh Chapman size but Chapman was/is a freak athletically and was one of the strongest guys on the team.
ETA: doesn't seem like he fits the Chapman mold of strength and explosiveness on film he's more fast than explosive

You don't spend 25 hours in the car over 3 weeks going to watch the same team twice just to troll people. He isn't trolling. He wants to go to FSU.

Damion Square held his own in the run game at the exact same size, no reason this guy can't either as a fulltime.
They say he looks like Liner, but farther along physically in person...

I went and looked up the videos and I am still seeing a tweener guy. With our numbers constantly being tight taking a JUCO guy without a lot of upside (and not a situational guy like taking Terrance Cody 2.0 would be). I mean even Jesse Williams never developed a consistent game for us mainly because of injury.

Went on LSUs 247 site to see if they had any new info on Hootie. A few things I saw:
1. LSU is trying to get back into it with Cam Rob. They have a new area recruiter, Brick Haley.
2. LSU feels like they are trending upwards lately for Hootie. A lot of that has to do with his mom feeling comfortable with the academic support system at LSU. There are those in Monroe who have experienced first hand the resources available to LSUs athletes.

A new recruiter 6 weeks before an early enrollee well enrolls early is kinda sad. Its basically Les Miles calling three time outs to stop the clock from running and punting it back to us while he has the lead.
The problem is though taking a guy like this (other than something specific they are seeing in his game as a tweener) is that yeah he may "hold his own" like Square or Williams which yes were integral parts of our Defense over their careers but still neither were game changers nor did either make many plays worth remembering. With numbers so tight why take another space eater, a JUCO one at that?
And letting Pruitt leave like he did will turn out to be a mistake. Especially the relative dud we replaced him with. Napier and Cristobal were great hires the DB coach whose name escapes me wasn't. Its almost to me based on the timing of it/the replacement coach that Pruitt going to FSU caught Saban off guard. At least Pruitt should have had the decency not to intentionally steal guys like Hump or Demarcus Walker. But then again Pruitt and his whole family have always been classless dicks.

I'm not sure what we could have done to keep him around. He wanted a promotion, and felt that Bama was holding back on him. Seeing as how he was a high school coach just a few years ago, I'm not sure what he expected.

Greg Brown, former defensive coordinator/ secondary coach at Colorado. Seemed like Saban was scrambling to find a replacement for Pruitt.
Side note: Bo Scarbrough is officially visiting UCLA this weekend.

A good deal of it has to do with the fact he is a Pruitt. No sense of loyalty, seriously a lack of what you could term basic morality/people skills etc. They also have a very high opinion of themselves and everyone else is expendable.

Saban went anti Pruitt with Greg Brown.
Pruitt was all recruiter, while Brown is all coach. Tons of experience coaching DBs(in the NFL also), not so much recruiting 18 year olds.

Barney is no where near a space eater. Watch his highlights. He's an explosive 5 technique in our system.

Rashaan Evans has Lance and Kirby listed as his recruiters yet we hardly hear anything on our end about him.
When have those two heavy hitters ever been co-recruiters? And why is his recruitment so quiet on the Bama side?
They are our two best guys recruiting a position of need, and recruiting a badass at that, yet most feel we are on the outside looking in for him.
In the immortal words of Vince Lombardi "What the hell is going on here????"

Oddly Lance has been somewhat quiet since his return from UT.

I think Lance is on a short lease this year a la Stoutland.
He'll be more involved in next year's class.

FWIW, Cristobal seems to be the man for this class.
He's the lead recruiter for Daron Payne too. He's done an amazing job with him, seeing as he grew up an Auburn fan.

I like that kids Tarow Barney but I hope this doesn't mean that the kid from GA isn't going to qualify. They seem similar both around 6'3 280 and are athletic.

Interesting I wonder what it has to do with. We seemed to limit Stoutland's recruiting to almost nil when the Miami stuff broke.

Stoutland wasn't a great recruiter anyway. Look at the kids he recruited at Miami. It's not a list of superstars
