Maybe it is a product of having recent success and wanting to forget the 2012 season, but damn some AU fans are over the top. They are certainly improved and that will be a very tough game, but I would have thought a 3-9 season would give some folks guarded optimism. Hell, I was still pessimistic late in 2009 after living through the Shula era, the ending to 2007, and the 2009 Sugar Bowl. But to each their own.

How do you feel about that Mag?
That's Rex's MO, he believes in his players, almost to a fault. It's gonna get worse before it gets better, but he's not gonna throw him under the bus. Even after the Cincy game, which was horrible, he said there wasn't a single DB who had a good game. Cromartie has been pretty bad this year including his half dozen PI calls. He's never gonna be a physical CB, which is what Milliner is gonna have to grow into.
The momentum Darrin Walls had to usurp Milliner as the starter was lost in the game as well, so it's back to the bigger investment.
Game is just moving too fast for him, he gets beat on the snap, and struggles locating and fighting for the football. Just gotta learn.
Now the front 7 may not be as patient, as Mo Wilkerson has already called all the DBs out for not being able to cover...

I think they forget how little they have shown they can pass. I mean their qb was a defensive back a few years ago... If they had to assemble some points with the quickness it would be interesting to see.

What gets me is Dee had no trouble finding the ball here except for 2010.
I know the NFL is a different game, but I just hope he breaks out next year. Can anyone really doubt that he has all the tools? I just hope the pressure doesn't get to him and I hope the struggles don't get to him. I truly believe a lot of guys who "bust" wouldn't be busts if the pressure wasn't so high all the time. It's how I think AJ's career will be. If he comes out and is under fire instantly and gets hit and can't even get the ball out before someone is in his face, it'll ruin his career. But if he comes out and has a somewhat decent pocket for his first few games and his WRs catch balls (drops would make him try to do too much) he'll be a fairly good NFL QB.
If Andy Dalton can do what he's doing...

To be fair, they shouldn't have been a 3-9 team. Their coaching staff was the major problem, so I can understand their optimism, especially when you consider how young a lot of their talent is. That Johnson kid is gonna be the real deal in a couple of years, and Coates is a beast. Lawson and Monty Adams on that DL will be All SEC in a year or two.

FWIW, BOL is reporting that 2014 JUCO DL Tarow Barney is currently on campus for an unofficial. He claims to have a solid offer as long as he shows that he will qualify.

I dream of the day to have J Allen/ Elam?/ Arob/ Carter. I like getting more defensive recruits. One class we need to hoard corners. Last year it was runningbacks. This year it is linemen. We need tier one corners.

You must haven't seen his film. Kid is big as hell and pretty fast. Actually if you watch the spring game they said it.

So we're 17 point favorites over LSU. Seems kinda high given our recent history against them.
Thoughts?

Yea that's pretty high I don't think we win by that much.

Im not a betting person, but if I were I would jump all over the LSU side of that. I don't care if Mett breaks his leg next week during practice. They would still play us closer than that.

I don't even think we will cover half of that. I'm more confident that we will beat them than I was a month ago, but I'd be shocked if we beat them by more than 7, much less 17. I fully expect their D to look like the 85 Bears and Mett to look like Peyton against us. That's always how it works.

That's a ridiculous line for this game.

Usually when Vegas does shite like this (way too big a point spread - begging you to pick the underdog with the points) they are uber confident that the favorite will win big and want you to bet on the underdog.
As my grandpa said: "They didn't build all those huge buildings by losing."

I am feeling it will be a 10 to 14 point win.

Holy shite these people have serious mental issues. I'm not even making fun of this, some of these people legitimately need help.

Screw Collins, and that damn Cam is trashing LSU every chance he gets too. To hell with these traitors! La schools give them every opportunity to excel and then they screw us over and even worse, trash LSU once they commit to the Evil side. They can geaux to Hell and never cross into La. again!!

Yesterday's visitor, JUCO DT Tarow Barney quotes:
quote:
“It went real good. It was my first time at Alabama. I got to see the football facilities, the academic building, and went around the campus a little bit. The practice was good. It was all really nice,” said Barney.
“They said I could play anywhere on the d-line. They didn’t mention one place specifically.”
quote:
The rising JUCO prospect was also able to meet with head coach Nick Saban, who said an offer from the Tide could come as long as Barney’s academics check out.
“It was amazing- he told me about the school, how they go about things, and how I’m a good player. Coach Saban was telling me I’m a good player and that he wanted me to play there, but they have to check my academics. I didn’t say anything because I was shocked.”
quote:
Barney received more good news on the way back from Alabama, as he received a call from Penn State assistant Larry Johnson saying that the Nittany Lions were extending an offer.
“Coach Johnson called me and told me that my academics went through and that they were offering me. I felt pretty good about that.
quote:
A native of Bainbridge, Ga., Barney recorded 36 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks as a sophomore.
“I played one year in high school and didn’t qualify to go D1. One of my coaches knew the head coach at Northwest, so that’s how I got there.”

I probably had nothing to do with it, but I tweeted LF and C-Rob about playing together, now they're talkin on Twitter.
