So apparently 2015 OG Lester Cotton committed to us yesterday. He told Nuss and Mario, but didn't get a chance to speak to Saban. BOL is trying to get more information as to if he is actually considered a commitment to the staff.

20 minutes after a post about the possible commitment of a 4* offensive lineman and no responses?

Mario must have really hated what he inherited from Stoutland or its a change of emphasis/scheme somewhat. Like when we went from Pendry to Stoutland we stopped pulling guys and got away from the Pistol.

With all the interior OL we're taking this year, Warmack on board for next year, and a few other big time '15 interior OL looking at us, I've wondered if we might slow play Cotton because it was apparent that he is a guy that is likely to commit early.

He's from Central High in Tuscaloosa. An OG similar to Marlon Davis, IMO. I really love thus pick up. Got to have that in-state beef too.

Well, looking at our current OL and considering our continued lack of depth at the position, I'd say it's a pretty obvious answer.

Pendry's last year and Stoutland's first completely fricked us on the OL. The last good class we had was 2009.

Perhaps. I tend to believe he has little to work with though because the rumors of our lack of OL depth have been around for a couple of years prior to his arrival. This year it caught up to us.

Alabama is trying to get 2014 5-Star DB Quin Blanding to come on an official visit. Virginia's head coach's seat is starting to get a little hot, but folks think Quin is solid.

Also keep an eye on West Virginia commit Class of 2015 WR Jovon Durante. Some analysts are starting to think he is the best WR prospect in South Florida for 2015. He has a great relationship with Cristobal.

UVA got blown out by the Fighting Lettermans the other day. I don't see how their coach survives the season or why any elite player would want to hop onto that dumpster fire.

Elite 2015 CB Iman Marshall out of Long Beach, California really wants an Alabama offer. He is also high on LSU, Ohio State, and of course USC/UCLA.

He's 6-1, 190lbs so he is a prototype from a size standpoint and hasn't given up a reception yet this season according to 247.

We need to take a good look at Andrew Brown then. He'd be hell in our 3-4 at DE.

That would be quite the signing.

2015 is stacking up

I'm sure the decision was easy with him being from Central HS in Tuscaloosa

Hootie Jones interview

quote:

"I knew Denzel (Devall) really from Bastrop before he left," Jones said. "I didn't even know he was going to Alabama, honestly, while I was knowing him, but he chose Alabama. I talk to him a good bit. I haven't talked to him in a couple weeks, but I talk to him usually a lot. "He wants me to come more than anybody. Even though if, say for example I do go, he's going to be a senior, and I'd just be with him for a year, he wants me to come with him anyway."

quote:

"My mom likes both schools," he said. "She likes the coaching staff at both schools. She likes Coach (Nick) Saban. She likes Coach (Les) Miles. She thinks, I guess, Coach Saban is more educational, and he's trying to make sure everything goes as planned and Coach Miles is more of a family guy. He cares more about the players, I guess, to her, but she looks at stuff different than I look at stuff, so, I mean, she's going to help me out."

quote:

But that detail works itself out a bit more as each day passes, just by the nature of the fact he hopes to choose early enough to enroll in January. "I'm trying to figure it out before January, but it could be anytime before that," Jones said. "I honestly really don't even know. It'll probably be a surprise for me and all of them, I guess."
