Nugs
- Cornwell committed before Park, but at the end of the day, both guys are elite and both fanbases (Bama and UGA) should be happy with "their guy"
- Cornwell is gonna be a great class leader and having him onboard has already impacted Cam Robinson's recruitment.
- Keep an eye on Cam Sims and E Lane as the other receiver targets for this class (along with Kief)
- D Hand's recruitment is well beyond football, obviously. Watch to see if he unofficially visits either of his top 3 schools this summer (he has yet to visit Florida in any capacity, and has only been to Bama/Michigan once each).
- Raekwon McMillan had another "great" visit and did stay overnight, which provides a unique perspective. He immediately went to Clemson, then Florida. Still seems that tOSU and Clemson are out front with the SEC schools (Bama/UGA/UF)0 closing the gap.
- UGA is really going after Lorenzo Carter and has made up significant ground. Bama is still in a good spot and wants both Carter and Hand, but will likely only realistically end up 1.
- Still in a great spot with Humphrey
- JC Hassenauer was dominant in camp and is basically considered a silent commit at this point.

He's been to Michigan at least twice

That was a direct paraphrase, LOL, so the folks at 247 have it wrong.

All Bryants from Alabama must be kin to Coach Bryant.

Pretty sure he is headed to JUCO. Really talented, but not heavily recruited because his academics are so bad that he has almost no hope of qualifying. Most of those offers he claims were conditional on him drastically improving his grades.

The QB "Corn" in one pic I saw early has an upper body that remind ed me of Teblow during his UF days. Does anyone know what kind of speed he has?

Cornwell has a bit of mobility to him, as you can see in his highlights, but I doubt he plays like Tebow in college. He only runs when he has to.

Cornwell
quote:
"Alabama just always felt like home," Cornwell said. "I visited six times in all and I liked it more every time I visited. Coach Saban was probably what sealed the deal. He told me everything I needed to hear and he made me feel like I was special to him and to Alabama."
quote:
"I really wanted to go one more time before I made my final decision. I got there, spoke to Coach Saban and at about lunchtime I told him I was committing, shook his hand and headed back to Oklahoma. Alabama was always on top for me even though I felt pretty good about Virginia Tech and to a lesser extent Tennessee."
quote:
"The thing I pride myself on the most as a player is my leadership," Cornwell said. "I want to be the guy everyone else looks to and I like rising to the challenge under pressure. I also hear a lot from coaches that I have good footwork for a big guy. I hear a lot of comparisons to Ben Roethlisberger."
quote:
"Whether I throw for 100 yards or 300 yards doesn't matter to me as long as we win. I'll hand it off 50 times a game if that's what the coaches need me to do."
quote:
Cornwell also put up impressive rushing numbers last season, carrying 128 times for 755 yards and six touchdowns on the ground. While he possesses impressive foot-speed, Cornwell attributes most of those rushing yards to defenses over-compensating to try and limit the damage he could do as a passer.
"I made most of that yardage by scrambling. We started seeing so many teams drop eight guys into coverage that I'd find myself with no one in front of me so I'd just take off. But I definitely am not afraid to go between the tackles in short yardage situations. I'm a big guy and I can get a decent push."
quote:
"As a quarterback, you've got to take charge and be a leader. I believe it's my job to take on that leadership role in this class and do whatever the coaches need me to do to help the team. There are a lot of guys on the edge of committing to Alabama right now and all they might need is a little extra push. It's looking like this is going to be another No. 1 recruiting class for Alabama."
Those recruiting efforts will likely continue on campus this fall when Cornwell says he plans to be in Tuscaloosa for multiple games.
"I'm planning on making it to at least 2 or 3 games but the one I know I'll be at is the LSU game. That should be insane. I'm looking forward to taking in the atmosphere and getting to know some of the other recruits."
