I think as long as Oats is there we will be Top 25.
I'm pretty confident we will be better next year barring injury.

Looking at who is leaving, I think we will replace them with better overall talent. Replacing Herb's defense and leadership will be difficult but offensively we can be better.

Next year:

Herb as point guard (replaced by combo of Q and JD)
Petty (replaced by combo of Primo, Ellis, Q and JD)
Bruner (replaced by combo of Gary, Alex T, Rojas, KAH and possibly Bediako)
Reese (replaced by numerous options)

Factor in involving Holt and Langston and I think we will be just fine.

If your expectation for next year is that we are gonna be better than a 2 seed in the NCAA tournament you're probably gonna be in for a big let down. We lose a lot of experience and leadership. I do think we will be good and a top 25 team.

I think the talent differential will more than make up for the lost experience. And it’s not like we’re going to be inexperienced.

James Rojas-Redshirt senior
Keon Ellis-Senior
Quinerly-Redshirt Junior
Shack- Junior
Gary- Redshirt Sophomore

Primo, Ambrose, Miles- Sophomores

And Langston Wilson will be a junior too.

If we play well in the tourney I could see us being a preseason top 10 or even top 5 team next season.

Youre anticipating that first year players will be more productive than the seniors we are losing.

I think Davidson will be really good from the jump.

I think we will be good but I dont expect us to go through the SEC with only two losses or be as high of a seed as we are this year.

I think us being somewhere between a 4 and 6 seed is a reasonable expectation for next season.

I may be wrong but I honestly think we have the potential to be better next season.

A two loss conference record might not happen again next year but I think we can be more balanced and be a more consistent scoring team.

Having a PG that can finish over people in the lane, an inside scoring threat along with everything else gives us a very good chance.

Yes, I think JD will be more productive than both Herb and Petty.

I am also assuming that our returning players (Quinerly, Shackelford, Primo, Ellis, Miles, Gary, Ambrose, Rojas) all improve.

Anything less than a 3 seed and top 2 SEC finish would be a disappointment IMO with the talent we’re returning and bringing in.

On paper, next year's roster appears to be more talented than this year's, especially if Bediako is added, but talent doesn't always translate directly to success. I don't think we're going to fall off a cliff by any means, but it wouldn't surprise me if we spent the first month of the season trying to fit the pieces together.

I think it's reasonable to expect an uptick in production from the offense and a drop in defensive efficiency. The offense is what it is... Most of these guys, even the younger and inexperienced ones won't have a problem running it. The defensive intensity and consistency might not be there right away though. We have a lot of great individual defenders right now, who happen to also play great team defense. I don't think I can make myself expect the same quality on that side of the ball next year. I certainly don't think we will be bad on D. I don't think Oats would put up with it, but I also don't expect them to be top 5 or top 25 for that matter. Hopefully the boost in offensive production can make up for it.

This tacit rule that it’s okay to openly and intentionally mock Whites or East Asians but a horrible offense to even accidentally offend other races is a cancer on our society. The underlying implication of the rule is significantly more racist against minorities than it is against Whites.

I'm not gonna say either is alright to make fun of anyone because of their race. Having been raised in one of the most racially and culturally diverse cities in America, I've seen what happens when kids hang out, regardless of differences in physical appearances or cultures, and embrace the similarities (which are always greater). I've had very good friend growing up that were Catholics, Baptist, Methodist, Muslim, Hindu, Sheikh, Jewish, Atheist, etc. There's always more similarities when you get to know someone, and meet and see their families.

But there's an old saying in comedy that I think applies here, punch up, not down. It's less offensive to mock people in positions of greater power, wealth, or authority, than people that are/have been marginalized in society. Because when you "punch down," it often feels like you're picking on them. And people punching down have historically gotten away with it. At times, it was the norm.

I definitely don't want this to turn into some political board type thread. I may disagree or argue with people on another board. But here, it's not to put aside our differences, and just talk about Bama stuff.

But knowing that America is hyper sensitive, on both sides, about racial issues, you'd have to be a moron to make a plantation metaphors in 2021. And this isn't buddies drinking beer in a weekend. This is at work.

It will certainly be a telling season. We'll know if the group this year was special and won a bunch of games because they bought in as a group or if we can expect to be legit league contenders for a while to come. I'm almost as excited for next year as I am for the end of this one. I hope you're right. I don't have the expectation of our floor being a top 10 team next season, but I do believe the potential is there if things go well.

On a side note, the women are on pace to lose 104-24.

Still got a way to go to compete in women's basketball apparently.

Drake-UNI got canceled because of a positive Covid test with Northern Iowa. At first I was seeing that Drake might have had the positive, but I’m glad they don’t because they’ve got a really good squad that deserves a shot.

Although I think conference tourney auto-bids is one of the worst systems in sports, these two weeks are fun as hell.

I think the potential is limitless with a superstar point guard like Davison. Collin Sexton would have dominated in this system.

Big step for them just to make the tourney. I think that’s the toughest job on our campus.

More or less what I'm saying is that it is possible for us to be a better team next year but not be as highly ranked as where we are now.
So much depends on your opponent's improvement, match ups, schedule, etc.
We could very well be a better team but not conference champion and a 2 seed.

I think LSU is a good barometer for how Bama should be next year. They finished high in 2020, lost some good production, replaced it with some young guys and also brought back quite a bit of talent and finished top 4 in the league.

I think the biggest difference is that Oats stresses D much more than Wade, and that alone will have Bama playing at a much higher level in the follow-up year than what LSU has done this year. But, there's really no reason why Bama shouldn't be near the top of the league next year.

Bama can be better next year, imo. JD will give them a guy who can get to the rim better than anyone on this year's team. Gotta replace Herb as a facilitator and lock down defender, and gotta replace Petty as a marksman. It can be done. I think Gary and Ellis will be big time defenders next year and I expect Shack to improve his outside shot next year.

What kind of shirt is Staley wearing on the sideline? It has a freaking cartoon character on it. Is it supposed to stand for something I'm missing? Just wondering.
