Women had lead cut to 7 with five minutes to go but now 12 with four minutes left.

Bama 59
USC 71

3:45 4Q

Not quite ready to hang with the top of the conference, but the ladies are playing hard tonight.

They easily could have folded early but they kept fighting and made it a ballgame.

I think a lot of people are underestimating Petty's defense. As dynamic as JD is, he probably won't be in Petty's league on defense as a freshman.

I am excited about next year, and by the time the season tips off, I probably will have myself convinced we'll go undefeated. But, realistically, we probably shouldn't EXPECT results as good as this year. It could happen, but a lot is going to have to come together.

Primo and Ellis will take Petty’s minutes, not JD. Both are better defenders.

Depends how a lot of guys develop. Defensively I do think we take a step back, but offensively we could still be a force. JD will give us a dominant scorer that we haven't really had with Nate, and a guy who can iso when the situation calls for it. I don't think we change the entire scheme to everyone standing around while JD cooks, that would be a disservice to the wonderful offense Nate has implemented, but having a guy who can go one on one and dominate his man consistently will be a nice addition to the offense.

Definitely. Down 25+ at one point, so a chance to cut it back to single digits under 3 minutes shows a lot. I think it was down to 8 or so at one point before USC pulled away again.

They've really fought hard. Good showing after that 1st quarter.

The only negative is that Walker didn't really do anything in both games.
11 points then 9 today won't cut it for someone expected to be a higher draft pick.

I think we will be better next year and more built to make a run in the tournament.

But we won’t have the same regular season success..mainly because Crowds will be back for Road games.

Look at Auburn, they had a better regular season in 2018 but were better built for the NCAA tournament in 2019. I expect us to be something like 12-6 in conference and be a 4-6 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Better than who, Petty? I 100% disagree on that. And yes, they'll be playing Petty's spot, but I was talking about what we're losing vs what we're gaining. Primo and Ellis can be good, but neither are better than Petty now, and we don't know if they will be next year. Holt is supposed to be a great defender, but again, it's tough to expect a freshman to come in and excel immediately.

Primo isn't a better defender than Petty at this point.

We are definitely gonna take a pretty big step backwards on defense losing Herb, Petty, and Bruner. They are 3 of the 4 best defenders on the team, Ellis being the other one.

Bama 63
USC 75

Final

Ladies showed a lot of fight to stay in this one after the first 10 minutes. USC had a few players that we didn’t have an answer for, but it was a good showing after the first quarter.

I think he was saying they were better defenders than JD, not Petty.

Keon Ellis is the best on ball defender on the team right now. JD will come in as a freshman and be the leading scorer. He can defend when asked so that's not a problem. Holt will be able to defend. Wilson gives us another dimension if he can add muscle to his frame!

Defensively, Ellis is the better defender period.

Hopefully having AT back down low as well will give our guards a little more rest defensively. Nate can run more perimeter man on man and zone in the paint instead of having to play man with all 5 guys. Even with the type of offense we run, having a true big helps tremendously. We should theoretically rebound better and get more tip outs with a 6 ft 11 guy out there.

He is really raw so my expectations for him are low right now. He's good but he hasn't played enough to be good from the jump.

Tchikou at the 5 is getting me really excited. He has the skills and shot making ability of a Guard.

Well, Coach Oats and I disagree.

There is potential to be very good next year. But, I've found that most of the time the people who make these type claims are the first ones to start complaining about the team when they turn out to be wrong.

Yea - next year will have its own growing pains. We also have to show we can come out of the gates ready to play and not need 4 weeks to figure things out.

Tons of great pieces and a great coaching staff, but some key cogs to replace too. It'll be a fun team.
