Looks like yall were just being good team players and helping the seed line of the above teams
Basically the total opposite of what Frank Martin has tried to do to us all these years.

And we won. There is a W next to that game for us. That's a game we lose during the collapse years.
I had to teach last night and didn't get to see a single minute of the game. I caught a halftime score during the break and just figured we'd blow it down the stretch because that's what we've done so much for the last decade or so.
I was so happy to find out a couple hours later that I was wrong.

Oh there is no better team player down the stretch for the conference tournament hopes than the University of Alabama.
We're REAL GOOD GIVERS

Oats needs to have a sit down with KAH and get it worked out. He needs him to give the team positive minutes.

Obviously take this with a grain of salt, but ESPN has a "% chance to win conference regular season" column on BPI. Keep in mind BPI likes us the least of the metrics.
% Chance to Win SEC Regular Season Title
1. Alabama (98.8%)
2. Missouri (0.5%)
3. Tennessee (0.4%)
4. Arkansas (0.2%)
5. Florida (0.1%)
6. Everyone else (less than 0.1%)
BPI Predicted Finish & Records
1. Alabama (15.5-2.5)
2. Tennessee (11-5)
3. Arkansas (11-6)
4. Missouri (10-6)
4. Florida (10-6)
6. LSU (9.5-6.5)
7. Mississippi St (9-9)
8. Ole Miss (8.5-9.5)
9. Kentucky (7-10)
10. Auburn (7-11)
11. Georgia (6.5-10.5)
12. South Carolina (5-10)
13. Texas A&M (3-11)
14. Vanderbilt (2-13)

It was misleading
because they are skilled enough to finish at the basket, they just aren't controlling the ball well when driving to basket.
That's more to lack of focus/effort than skilled.
You quoted Oats saying that a couple of Herb's turnovers were the result of him being rusty because he can't practice. That has nothing to do with the fact that there's no one on this team like Sexton or Kira who can reliably get to the basket and either make the shot or get to the line. Since a guard driving to the basket is what we are using right now to start nearly all of our possessions on offense, not having one who is an elite finisher at the rim is a problem.
quote:
Again, it's not the fact we don't seem to have answer for offense issues...
That's not true and Oat has addressed that and said it's more to lack of efforts/not finishing plays.
The crappy offensive rebounding can partially be attributed to poor effort, but otherwise we have definitely kept doing a lot of the same things (Shack driving to the basket for example) with the same poor results (him taking a wild, off balance shot without ever considering passing the ball). We rely on working the ball inside and back out until we get a good look. When we can't do that, we struggle. A guard taking an off balance shot around the basket 8 seconds into the shot clock is not what we need to be relying on.
quote:
You said we don't have right kind of players to burn a team who decided to defense perimeter... That is not true again.
We do have right players and it's more again of effort. We have played 3 point teams and we played them well. We just aren't consistent
defending 3's. We are in top 10 or 15 in defensive effiectively
What does our defensive efficiency have to do with the way other teams defend us and how we respond to it?

From February 10 to the end of the regular season - Last 3 years (record on Feb 9)
2021 : ?-? (16-5, 11-1)
2020 : 3-5 (13-10, 5-5)
2019 : 2-6 (15-8, 6-4)
2018 : 2-5 (15-9, 6-5)
Overall : 7-16
Yeah if anything splitting the last 4 is merely the calm before the storm. I'm just glad we aren't in our usual position of absolutely having to go 4-2 or 5-1 down the stretch just to make it into the field.

If we lose any of the next 3 the curse is real.

Of course, we followed it up with the 2 wins in Nashville
Yeah, the next game was Sexton's floater at the buzzer over that same A&M team.
A couple years prior (2016) was when we beat them at Coleman only because Anthony Collins missed both free throws with a couple of seconds left.
A lot of weird games against A&M during that stretch, and most of them were losses.

Yeah this is objectively the best team we have had in a while, so if we can't take care of business at home against UGA and Vandy and win on the road against Aggy's bad mid-major roster then Oats needs to burn a whole basket full of sage in the middle of Coleman.

I mean if you're going to tell me I'm misleading people and that I'm wrong then yeah.

I’m still melting from last night.

Continuing the sloppy play, 20+ turnovers, we'll be fortunate to win 2/3.

At least we made the FTs last night. (17/20 - win by 3)
The Mizzou game would've probably been totally different if we had. (12/21 - lose by 3)
