In this day and age where everyone feels empowered, I have a hard time believing Oats did something racist and the rest of the team still chose to play.

Yeah that's where this rumor loses me. I can totally see him and Petty swinging on each other though, which would be bad enough. Though again, that still leaves the question of Rojas.

John Petty is pissing away his NBA dream this year. He might as well drop those last 2 turds and flush it all away. He’s too soft, and 1 good game out of every 20 won’t get the job done.

Petty had one of these episodes last season and got benched.
Maybe he just didnt like being benched again, or he and Rojas just got into it during practice. But, the way this season is going for Petty, he is probably looking for something to blame his problems on.

I mean Oats said after the game he expected both back for Ole Miss. Surely it can’t be that much too it if that was case. Maybe just using the benching as an attention getter.

a good point on the secR said if any of this was true then all of the players would have boycotted the game and sat out. If any of this was true Greg Byrne would have been involved. Just people stirring the pot.

Exactly. I highly doubt Herb would have played if Oats said anything racial. More likely Oats is trying to light a fire under Petty and Rojas.

petty has been around a long time and has known to be lazy on the Defensive side. My guess he was lazy in practice and a few were gotten onto and one or two ran their mouths.

I don’t agree he has known to be lazy.
I think he led the team in rebounding last year(hustle stat) and I always see him hustling for loose balls and such.
Maybe he was loafing in practice, but I hardly ever see him without effort in the game.

Honestly.....the team would be better off if he took his ball and went to Europe. This reminds me of the attitude problem that Saban inherited in 07. If this was football, we wouldn't be ok with the loafing......

Yeah exactly. Other than people holding the fact that he was a 5* recruit who wasn't some 1 and done monster against him, I really have never understood the obsession a lot of our fans have with trying to portray Petty as Shannon Hale 2.0.

This rumor started from an Auburn fan on twitter who had 28 followers. He started tweeting it as if it was a fact, it quickly spread throughout the Auburn side of twitter and they ran with it. Josh Moon is the only reporter from Auburn or Alabama even acknowledging it. He’s always been a clown. I don’t believe any of that stuff is true.

Warm that plane up for the entire 2017 class. They are the worst combination of laziness, mental weakness, softness, low basketball IQ, and low basketball skill I have ever seen.
This program will never be anything until those 3 cancers are gone. We actually thought (yes, I’m including myself here) that this was a program changing group that would put us on the map nationally lol holy shiit were we ever wrong!

I didn’t notice anything different about Oats last night. I also didn’t see anything noticeably different about the team.
