Indiana feels like the Tennessee of college basketball

Fans expect them to be Kentucky, Duke, Carolina, etc but haven't in 30 years. Oh yea and by the way you play in the toughest conference in the country.

No thanks.

I'd say it's even more extreme than that. I think Tennessee fans would happily embrace an 8 win season and trip to the Outback Bowl at this point. A large contingent of Indiana basketball fans will be calling for the next coach's head if they aren't in the Sweet 16...next year. Their delusion is next level.

No offense, but that shirt screams 1970s.

Mark Bradley (ajc.sports) has us losing to Ohio St in the finals. A re-do of the football title game.

I have a lot of family in Indiana, and I wouldn't go that far. Indiana is kind of like Bama was before Saban arrived. Really high expectations, and a bunch of coaching hires that struck out for various reasons. IU hasn't done a whole lot since Knight was fired, but they're the right coaching hire away from being an annual top 25 and tournament team. At the time of the hire, a lot of experts thought the Miller hire was that home run.

Pretty much any P-6 basketball program is one good hire away from being really competitive unless they're dealing with sanctions or something. Even places like Nebraska and Northwestern. I mean just look at Auburn and Pearl. It's not as extreme of an example because we have never been a basketball graveyard, but Oats turned our ship around in just 2 years. If Indiana makes a good hire they'll be good again in a couple of years too. The fanbase has a very well earned reputation for being totally off the rails crazy though and any coach going there goes there with the understanding that patience is not something he will get.

I think this is also his first time not coaching up north. I hope he likes the winters in Tuscaloosa.

I mean Tom Crean went to the Sweet 16 in 12, 13, and 16, lost in the first round in 15, with B1G Championships in 13 and 16 and they still fired him in 17.

This won't work. I need an angry, cartoonish elephant. My ego is too fragile, and need something to match my tap-out hat.

I mean obviously we all want him to stick around, but if he - or more importantly his wife and kids - just don't enjoy living in the South then there is obviously nothing we can do about that. The only thing we can control is what level of resources we invest in basketball. If we lose him because Tuscaloosa isn't in Michigan or upstate New York and that's where he and his family want to be then it is what it is and best of luck to him. If we lose him because we didn't pay him enough or dragged our feet on giving him a new arena then I'll be fricking livid.

Saturday seems like years away.

This week is going to go by so slow.

Good news is with the money football brings in we can outbid these programs easily.

Who would want to coach at Rocket Mortgage U anyways?

This was basically Butch before his last season, and they weren’t happy with him.

Indiana fired Miller their fans want Oats. Ain’t gonna happen, I think they should try to get Beilein from the Cavs

I’m sure they’ll try for Brad Stephens. Would about Scott Drew? He’s a Butler grad.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Steve Alford ends up being the hire.
