I'm sure this has been beaten to death, but I generally avoid game threads during the game.
My biggest fear was Duke’s length on the perimeter and it killed us. We also needed to have a good shooting night and we had a terrible one. A lot of that was due to Duke’s length and defense. But, I thought we missed a lot of good looks that we normally make. Everything else equal, we probably would have had to have had a GREAT shooting night to win, but I think a "good" night would have kept it interesting.
Anyway, great year.

It didnt help when Cliff missed two slams. Those were both early before the score got out of hand.

That tenner loss put us in this spot. Nate after the game said they have to do better to get the one seed. I don't think that was possible because of the teams ahead of us , and the losses were just the teams were on fire those nights.
But damn, we could have traded 2s with tenner if we would have beaten them .
Great year. I bought my tickets to the final four before the season, didn't say anything to jinx it. Sucked selling them back last night, but we did the best we could with what we had.

Sometimes you just have to tip your hat and move on. At no point after the opening tip, did I feel we were winning that game. Painfully obvious we were overmatched. Scheyer is no Hubert Davis either. They are well coached. Be interesting to see what the roster looks like next year. Have to get a couple bigger guards and a rim protector in the portal. Barring anything unforeseen, should have a solid nucleus returning.

Unless you are a HS stud, I am not sure you can build a high major program with just those recruits. There are only a handful of them out there and the Dukes of the world will get them. Cal proved you can build a good team from the portal even though he had a few follow him from UK

How I felt last night must have been how Notre Dame fans felt in the national championship game when we blew them out in 2012-13.

Wasn't just the Tennessee game, throw in Oregon and Ole Miss. Win those games that Alabama should have won and they likely get that 1 seed over Houston.

Was hoping that Coach DeBoer would attend the game last night to support the team. Unfortunately he skipped the opportunity again so he could watch Washington play Illinois in softball in Champagne.

Watching his kid.

Stevenson started 22 games over 37 appearances this season, averaging 5.4 points and 3.4 rebounds while shooting 42.9% from the floor and 30.7% from deep.
Stevenson failed to score in Saturday’s loss to Duke, going 0-for-2 from the floor with just two rebounds over 15 minutes. The 6-foot-11, 215-pound forward managed just 6 combined points in Alabama’s four NCAA Tournament games, shooting a dismal 0-for-6 from deep during that span.
He should enter the portal. The most overrated player

I like Jarin but I think it’s best we part ways. He’s too soft and clumsy to count on night in and night out. We need a new identity next year. All dogs on the court. Keeping him around only keeps part of that soft culture around. I’m fine with replacing him with 6’7 defender with decent three point shooting. Jarin never offered us anything in the post.

Seems like Oats likes Jarin though..guess he sees the potential. Praises him to the media.
Left him in the starting lineup so long. Doubt he’d ask him to leave. Would probably take Jarin initiating the transfer.

I'll probably get slammed for this but I'm not sold on Philon. He just always seems to be out of control.
We were just out of sync last night. It wasn't just one thing, we sucked at everything. We continue to miss WAY too many shots in the paint. It's really inexcusable. It's not hard when you're that close, put it in the little box and most of the time it'll fall in the net.

Philon was arguably our best player last night

Are we watching the same player?

I’m not sold that he’s ready for the NBA but I’m sold that he would’ve been a bigger part of our offense if he was healthy all season and will be the centerpiece if he returns. He made freshman blunders but still demonstrated an ability to score and exceptional vision for passes.

I’d be shocked if he’s here next here

He was very good, especially considering he was running our break neck offense as a true freshman.

It gets considerably harder when there's a guy with a 9'8" standing reach right in front of you. I'm not saying we didn't shoot poorly, but trying to get it over or around Duke’s size quickly had a lot to do with it.
