On Thursday July 23, 2026, Investigators with the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force conducted a human trafficking operation in north Shelby County. The operation led to the arrest of 15 individuals for Prohibited Activities (Alabama Criminal Code 13A-12-121). All subjects were arrested and transported to the Shelby County Jail. *One individual was also charged with two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (meth and cocaine) and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd)
Lieutenant Clayton Smith, Commander of the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force, stated, “We will not tolerate the victimization of vulnerable women here in Shelby County. I believe that no woman wakes up each morning and chooses to sell their bodies because they just want to. There is always an underlying reason that they feel they have to do this to live and have no other option. We have a duty to protect them just like any other citizen. I want to thank the investigators for their passion and work in this operation”.

On a personal level I do feel bad for him. He’s obviously pretty passionate about the program and this is a pretty tough situation to have all that derailed.
I don’t fault anyone for making that decision. I just feel empathetic because I’m sure he’s having a pretty shitty time today. Obviously feel awful for his family too.

Yeah, he was the one who had a heartfelt moment during a Saban press conference when he asked a question while appearing on Zoom and he was holding his baby and it started crying or something like that. Saban was really nice about it.
