Same deal as the war on drugs, back the blue, protect and serve, etc. They love to come up with those sort of phrases. Not to mention the ubiquitous nature of copaganda programming on TV and streaming platforms. It's all bullshite obviously, but very effective.

It really has come down to certain types of organizations, (schools, churches, universities) are going to have to say - "to work for us, you have to sign away some of your rights." Think about the risk these institutions are taking by not creating accountability with/from their employees. I know that techno-savvy people can work around filters and such, but teachers with apps to contact students - pastors and youth pastors with access to porn or "counseling" vulnerable people, it is all too easy to tarnish the reputation of an entire organization with irresponsible behavior. I am not making suggestions - just saying that I am surprised more inappropriate behavior isn't coming to light

I mentioned earlier that I’ll be interested to see where Yea goes from here. I don’t think Yea has maximized what it’s fully capable of and there’s meat still on the bone. I want to be totally fair so I’ll rattle off some pros and cons. Some of it hasn’t completely been his fault but some of it probably could’ve been done better.


-The events are very fun and I think they had put a good bit of thought into the tailgates and things like that to make them fun for members. They do a great job of prepping the athletes to engage with members. The Yea bourbon was a good idea as well and the player shoutouts are a fun gift idea so that is really cool.

-There haven’t been a lot of other forward thinking or outside the box ideas I’ve seen implemented by other schools. Wisconsin has an NiL beer you can buy at the stadium and around games. You can choose to tip a dollar to NiL at the concession stand. WVU has an NiL bar in town. There should be LeBron autographed baseballs or Amari Allen trading cards and special merchandise available in the store. The Oats signed Auburn shirt they threw at him was genius and then we didn’t see anything like that again.

-I think it was a good idea to go to the two tier model and make it affordable for all fans. I think either tier is very affordable and there are solid benefits for both tiers.

-The website and message board has been way too slow to become anything of substance. I do think they’ve tried to make that better recently. You can see staff members trying to start dialogue and engagement but for the longest time it was so dead and replies to questions members had were slow. I think maybe that’s part of why they brought Bone on is for general board engagement. It’s been a lot better as of late in responsiveness to help members with troubleshooting issues.

-I extend some grace because I do think they’ve tried to promote Yea at games and on Socials. It seems like a tough task to get our casual fans onboard with NiL because we’ve won so much recently and there’s entitlement there.


NiL and collectives were such a new thing at the time that it probably is tough to know what skillset to go after to head the team. Aaron being in media and being very tapped into the program I could see why that would be a direction to go in but I’m wondering if they now pivot to someone with a heavy background in marketing/fundraising. You only get so many shots at these sort of resets before the well is poisoned.
