Geez, that’s the fourth former Muschamp assistant Bama has hired this offseason? Really going all in on recreating that South Carolina coaching staff.

When they fire Golding and name Boom DC and HCIW, it's gonna get real weird

Put Cox in a room of tight ends and watch him go to town.

ETA: I realized I confused Coastal and Charlotte.

Svoda got handed a hard situation coming in late but I can’t say he did a great job even considering that. Couldn’t get anything out of Billingsley and our kickoff and punt teams were subpar. I also can’t think of one important recruit he was connected to.

Cox being only a TE coach is interesting. Usually that position coach has another title whether it be special teams, AHC, whatever. To me that means a big big big part of what he’s hired to do is recruit.

From an AL.com article in 2020

LINK ]Anonymous coach survey: Who are the SEC’s top rising star assistant coaches?

quote:

To put together the best list possible, AL.com got feedback from more than 20 coaches and high-ranking officials around college football and the NFL, including five head coaches.

These are the names that came up most consistently during those conversations (listed alphabetically):

quote:

Joe Cox, South Carolina wide receivers coach

A former starting quarterback at Georgia, Cox is now back in the SEC as a coach. After getting his start in coaching as a high school assistant in his home state of North Carolina, Cox joined Mike Bobo’s staff at Colorado State as a graduate assistant in 2015. One year later, Cox was promoted to tight ends coach. Now, the 33-year old is back working with Bobo at South Carolina.

It's kinda like Saban thinks Muschamp was a Bill O'Brien and a Pete Golding short of a national championship.

Maybe, but as far as I can see, he didn't reel in a single recruit in his year USC, so that might not be a strength of his.

I think He will learn how to recuit and will be a beast. I expect him to be secondary recuiter on some players and learning the ropes.

I don't think we're targeting anyone in SC?

Not sure any TE coach could do much with that nucklehead Billingsley. I bet it was fun trying to coach him. I hear he was one of the most disliked players by the support and nutrition staff.

Here's something I found interesting:

Look at his profile: LINK

Last post was a retweet Feb 4th.

News broke out that they hired Joe Cox on Feb 6th.

LINK

Drew hasn't updated his profile page. So that leaves me wondering, is he moving off the field role?

Also, I'm surprised Patriot hasn't hired BOB or Gase yet. Saban has a history of hiring people to complete Staff hires by no later than Feb 16th or 17th. Coaches has to start preparing for Spring ball camp.

Given Saban's comments recently... I think BOB is staying if we don't hear anything by Friday.
