He hasn't landed anywhere yet. I'm willing to bet that's our OC.

Guess who was a grad assistant at LSU in 2000?

Per source, Marrone didn’t think CFB was a good fit for him. More so because of things like NIL and the difficulty when trying to coach guys without worrying about them hitting the portal. Open to sitting out the next year or working in the NFL somewhere.

Really like the Eric Wolford hire as
@AlabamaFTBL OL coach. Obvious drop off after his departures has been an indicator. Hard nosed & tough. Will fit in nicely & bring some of that back.

I would think these are some of the last things that would turn an NFL coach away from CFB.

Some more info and numbers why Eric Wolford seems a great hire as Bama's new OL coach:

Jason Garrett was on Nick's staff at Miami.

Nick will have his new OC no later than 2-14 or Bob is staying.

What's the obession with Jason Garrett? LOL. I don't want him. He calls bland game. He's like BOB version -1

I believe this reason is, as the kids say, cope. He found out he can’t coach em up like he use to do and he was probably told to look for a new employer.

I agree. I would prefer known commodities in the college game. We’ve had some weird, disjointed offenses with primarily career NFL guys calling the plays in the past. Unfortunately not many good college OCs that also know how to run a pro style offense. They’re all just Locksley style 95% RPO playcallers…it seems.

Jim Harbaugh to the Vikings. I mention this because something about BoB in Ann Arbor just makes sense.

Not really news - but from RollTide.com today

Hutzler, Robinson and Wolford Added to the Alabama Coaching Staff

Hutzler will coordinate special teams and coach outside linebackers while Wolford will tutor the offensive line and Robinson will work with the corners

"We are pleased and happy to be able to add Coleman Hutzler, Travaris Robinson and Eric Wolford to our coaching staff," Saban said. "They are all talented coaches who are well respected across the country for their knowledge of the game, ability to recruit and aptitude for teaching and developing young men both on the field and in life."

Sal Sunseri moving to off-field role with focus on transfer portal ((BOL)

quote:

Alabama officially announced the hirings of three assistants on Wednesday, including Coleman Hutzler who will serve as both special teams coordinator and outside linebackers coach.

Last year, Drew Svoboda coordinated the Crimson Tide’s special teams units while Sal Sunseri coached the outside linebackers. Svoboda will remain on staff and coach tight ends in 2022, but what about Sunseri, the longtime UA assistant? Nick Saban provided some clarity.

“Sal is going to be a special assistant to the head coach, for me,” Saban told local reporters via Zoom on Wednesday afternoon. “I think there’s a lot of things going on in college football, the landscape has changed dramatically. You guys all know that. Whether it’s the portal, having people on top of the portal, you almost need a staff of people just like you have a staff of people for recruiting to find out who the best players in high schools are. You also have to have people responsible to do evaluations in terms of who’s getting in the portal.

“And also tracking how guys that get in the portal actually do. I think it’s a little bit of a fad right now to think that I get in the portal and all my issues and problems are gonna be solved. But yet it’d be interesting to see how many people really benefit in a positive way from taking advantage of the opportunity to get in the portal, and we’re gonna track those kinds of things and Sal’s gonna be involved in a lot of those things. But he’s gonna be a special assistant to me, aight, to help me in a lot of ways in the changing landscape of college football.”. . .
