Sam Adams recaps recent unofficial visits

quote:
Sammamish (Wash.) Eastside Catholic athlete Sam Adams was one of the best players we saw on day one of the Pylon 7v7 tournament in Mesquite, Nevada. Adams has been working out primarily at receiver for his loaded FSP Blue Chip squad and shows off tremendous hands and the ability to run after the catch.
Adams is one of the region’s top two-way players and has the ability to excel at running back or defensive back at the next level. He’s a big back who looks all of 6-2, 200 pounds and it’s easy to see why he’s one of the most heavily recruited players in the country.
Adams recently took unofficial visits to Clemson, Georgia and Alabama and broke down what he liked about each school... (more)

After such an impressive recruiting class, esp. on the defensive line, one can hear the negative recruiting:
- "Alabama just landed a crazy amount of D-line recruits. You're not gonna get any serious playing time until you are a redshirt senior."
- "The position coach (BB) is an former NFL guy. He's just using Alabama to get back to the pros. Gonna be there 1 year, period."
- "Sure, Saban's there, but he's pushing 70. No way he's going to be around when you graduate. One, tops two years, he's done."
- "Saban's lost it. They lose one game all year and fires half his staff. If you make one mistake he sits your arse for the rest of the year."
- "Saban's lost it. His team quit on him against Clemson."
- "Saban's lost it. His defense was awful. Didn't know what it was doing. Once Tua leaves next year this thing is over."
You can just imagine Smart and Dabo et al say this kind of stuff to 17/18 year-olds. Once the staff settles in, though, and Bama starts playing smash-mouth football again come fall, these recruits' eyes will be opened.

I admire your crootin enthusiasm, but you might be addicted.

Keep hearing Jones-Bell at WR is almost identical to the talk on Jahquez Robinson at CB.
He's highly regarded by Florida schools and will potentially be a top 100 player on recruiting sites by the time the cycle is over.

Lol. Let me explain: I'm surrounded by people who only talk about soccer or darts or whatever. No-one talks about football, let alone college football, or even know what college football is! I'm talking about the Netherlands here. A college football wasteland. Nobody has ever heard of recruiting here. They don't know it exists. It doesn't exist here: there is no such thing as college sports. So this thread, this forum, is the only place where I can be among people that are into college football and Alabama. :)

Whats the weather like there this time of year?
Posted on 2/24/19 at 2:47 pm to Dick Tracy
We don't have real winters anymore. Lotsa rain, couple days of snow here and there, above zero Celcius temps mostly, getting warmer now. Moving from fall into spring, basically.

Per TigerPaw1 ob AU board:
quote:
- 5* TE Arik Gilbert visited this week & for first time had both parents on campus with him which is a positive sign. However, Wolk seems to think BAMA is the current team to beat (personally I thought it was UGA)

Can Bama not land in state receivers anymore?

We just need Wiliams. Smh

It appears that Bama has several WRs ahead of JJ Evans on their board and hasn't been pushing for him. Auburn has been. I posted about that yesterday -- that he was likely to commit to AU.

He must be getting some trim down there.

Isn't Clemson leading for Williams?
Posted on 2/24/19 at 6:40 pm to remaster916
We get receivers from everywhere.

Clemson does lead for EJ Williams. He's visited Clemson five times from June through January and his first Bama visit was a Junior Day this month. And Justyn Ross was Williams' former teammate at Central HS in Phenix City.
Wide Receivers (4-5)
4* WR Dazalin Worsham 6-1/175 AL hudl
4* WR Javon Baker 6-1/180 GA hudl
5* WR Rakim Jarrett 6-0/182 DC hudl
4* WR Jermaine Burton 6-1/193 CA hudl
4* WR Thaiu Jones-Bell 5-11/180 FL hudl
4* WR EJ Williams 6-3/183 AL hudl *
4* WR Marcus Rosemy 6-2/187 FL hudl
4* WR/DB Marc Britt 6-2/190 FL hudl
4* WR Jordan Johnson 6-2/180 MO hudl
5* WR Julian Fleming 6-3/210 PA hudl
It's early, but atm Jarrett, Burton and Jones-Bell appear to be the most likely WRs to be added to Bama's class. Other targets to know are Jordan Johnson, who visited in Jan and Marc Britt who'll visit in March. Fleming is great, but a heavy lean to Penn State. Rosemy has expressed a lot of interest in Bama, but he doesn't have an offer.
Jarrett and Burton are pretty comparable to Jeudy, Ruggs and Smith, except Burton may be the most physical of all those guys. Jones-Bell is very comparable to Waddle. Jarrett is the #3 WR, Burton may be underrated as the #7 WR, and Jones-Bell is ridiculously underrated. All three are great WRs -- physical, quick-twitch, great stop-start, acceleration, breakaway speed, route runners, hands, etc. I'd be very happy with them.

Not a tall receiver among them. Maybe Saban thinks they are unnecessary for our scheme.

Does a 6-3 WR actually offer any real advantage over a 6-1 WR who can out-jump/out-reach him, especially if the 6-1 guy is physical and a quicker, faster route runner who gets better separation?
Eta: At 6-4/216, Jahleel Billingsley is a legit big WR. He's played more as a WR than an in-line TE. And assuming we get Reggie Grimes, he might even end up playing on offense as a big-WR/TE.
