I wasn't referring to Ramsey at all actually. Which is why I didn't reference him in my post. Ramsey has plenty of physical tools but also needs a lot more reps in a non- wing T offense. You saw the difference that makes in a 7on7 game. However, Bateman has not been mentioned by any of the guys there as one of the top two QBs.

And they saw a lot more than I did but from what I saw he didn't look bad. He wasn't perfect or anything but he was pretty solid. I didn't get to see Burns though and it wouldn't surprise me if he showed out. The two definite things I got out of watching the 7-on-7's is that Max Browne is a stud and Tyrone Swoopes can't pass for shite and is only ranked so high because his size reminds people of Cam.

On the TS message board, Bone said that someone close to Jalen Ramsey said that it will come down to USC and Bama even though Bama wasn't in the top 7 he recently released. Also said USC is the frontrunner. Bone said that he doesn't believe the entire Bama staff was sold on Ramsey up until recently but their interest increased the last few weeks.

I think we finish with Derrick Henry, DeMarcus Walker, Walker Jones for sure which would push us to 21 leaving 4. Knowing we will take 25, I would hope and think we could definitely end up with those 3 plus Robert Foster, Matthew Thomas, Brendan Langley, and Antonio Conner.

If we end up missing on any of those 4 if not all of them because it is def a possibility then I think Marquez White, Kendall Beckwith, Hunter Henry, and Holland Fisher may sneak in there.

Long shots that I dont think we really have a shot at but I could be wrong on are Jalen Ramsey, Tim Williams, Laremy Tunsil, Austin Golson, Alvin Kamara, Josh McNeil, Ashton Shumpert, Mackensie Alexander, Montravius Adams, Greg Gilmore, and then Dee Liner.

So ill predict each guy...

Derrick Henry-UA almost 100 percent sure
DeMarcus Walker-UA confident but wouldnt be surprised on UF
Walker Jones-UA almost 100 percent sure unless he wants to go somewhere for PT or whatever
Robert Foster-50/50 no clue, but his parents and he are visiting us this month.
Matthew Thomas-50/50 hard to read and will be a NSD decision IMO.
Brendan Langley-50/50 UGA or UA just have to see how it plays out.
Antonio Conner-Might go elsewhere because of Safety depth and Miss schools are appealing in ways.
Marquez White-UA or FSU depends on how it plays out.
Kendall Beckwith-UA or LSU probably LSU, but I think if we have the spots then he may come as a MLB.
Hunter Henry-UA or ARK probably ARK in the end but wouldnt surprise me if we got him the way Bone talks us and him up.
Holland Fisher-Bone talks him up with us but Ill say he sticks with VT, VT or UA.
Jalen Ramsey-Ill say USC, hope im wrong and he likes us.
Tim Williams-Dont see it, could be wrong, ill say LSU
Laremy Tunsil-Too early to tell, I know he has a spot if he wants it, but Ill say UGA or UF until I hear we lead or something.
Austin Golson-FSU
Alvin Kamara-Crowell departure and having no RBs committed ill say UGA.
Josh McNeil-Going from a top 2 to a top 5 and Bone talking about him not being in our class ill say UGA or somewhere else.
Ashton Shumpert-Miss school
Mackensie Alexander-Florida school, hope im wrong and he really likes us. Too early to tell.
Montravius Adams-Too early same as Alexander, Ill say Clemson or AU thats what Bone says.
Greg Gilmore-LSU
Dee Liner-AU

Keep in mind all of my predictions are what is probable and Bone has influence in this.

Also Jonathan Cook out of Spanish Fort seems like a backup option if not a gray shirt

It is difficult, and kind of unfair, to evaluate a QB based on a 7 on 7 tournament where he is matched up with a bunch of guys he has been around for a grand total of 48 hours. Obviously there are some things like footwork, arm strength, etc. that you can look at objectively, but for the most part it is asking a lot of a guy to come into a situation like that and look good.

DVR'd The opening last night, I really tried to focus on watching the QBs. For some reason I always preferred Ramsey over Bateman, but after watching this I pulled a 180. This is how I would rank them from the 7on7.

1.Max Browne- The guy is just flat out good. He'll be another great USC QB. It's obvious why he's ranked where he is.

2. Cooper Bateman- Very proud of him. He threw with confidence, and for the the most part made great decision. Love his arm, and towards the end of the game he threw a laser in the endzone. He could of had an amazing game if his receivers didnt drop a few. Cant wait for him to get on campus.

3. B. Ramsey- It's really a distant third. Disappointment. He might of just completed two passes 20> yards. He had multiple picks(should have been more but the DB dropped a few). He was a little shaky the whole time. The only thing he could do was throw the screen/dump off pass.

4. T. Swoops(Texas commit)- He was clearly the worst QB out there. Just flat out bad. Horrible decision making. Horrible throwing motion(some passes it actually looked like he was throwing sidearm). The only thing he could complete was the short passes. How this guy is a 5* on Rivals is beyond me.

No football player should be evaluated in any sense from their play at a 7on7 tournament.

To do so is like evaluating a basketball player on their ability to play HORSE, or a baseball player's ability to play stick ball.

The only similarity from 7on7 to actual football is the football itself. When there is no hitting, there is no true indication of what these guys are truely capable of.

Very Bad comparisons. I know what you're trying to say, but you're really reaching. While you cant cant make a complete judgement on a QB in a 7on7, you can still see a lot. Throwing motion, and decision making being two.

You can tell how well a kid can shoot by watching him play HORSE or how a kid swings a bat in stick ball, so no, the comparisons are spot on.

Throwing motion and decision making change dramatically when 250+ lb monsters are breathing down your kneck.

QB Cooper Bateman looks a lot better today, more comfortable and throwing on time a lot more than any point this weekend- #Alabama

Cooper Bateman is spinning it as well as anyone today. Just hit Ryan Switzer for a other TD.

Mitch Sherman ?@mitchsherman
Ryan Switzer can hide on the underneath route, he's so small. That's a TD catch from Cooper Bateman. #TheOpening

Mitch Sherman ?@mitchsherman
Good duel underway between Cooper Bateman and Shane Morris. Maybe we'll see a rematch some day in the CFB playoffs. #TheOpening

RecruitingNation ?@RecruitingESPN
Cooper Bateman strikes again -- this time to Ryan Switzer for a long TD. The #Bama QB commit is hot today at #TheOpening.

Brandon Huffman ?@BrandonHuffman
Cooper Bateman is coming alive today and playing the best he has all weekend. Just passed a beauty to Ryan Switzer for a score. #rolltide

Bryan Fischer ?@BryanDFischer
Cooper Bateman to Torii Hunter Jr. for a long TD and an eventual game winning score a few plays later: LINK

Steve Wiltfong ?@SWiltfong247
Alabama QB commit Cooper Bateman has already hit Torii Hunter for two scores this morning.

Scott Kennedy ?@ScoutKennedy
Cooper Bateman got hot, several downfield passes and a TD on last play of game to Torii Hunter for the win #theopening

Justin Hopkins ?@JHopkins247
As time expired Cooper Bateman hits Torii Hunter Jr. In the end zone to win 12-6.

Justin Hopkins ?@JHopkins247 Cooper Bateman hits a streaking Torii Hunter Jr. On the sideline for a big TD. 6-6 ball game.

Brandon Huffman ?@BrandonHuffman
Cooper Bateman hits Torii Hunter Jr. for a 65-yard score and Super Bad ties it...

It looks like Bateman has gotten a feel for the speed of the DBs. It's safe to say that he doesn't see any DBs or LBs in Utah with the speed of the guys that he's playing against. Bateman has gotten better each day of the competition. B.Ramsey on the hand, not so much.

Exactly, so if you're making bad decisions with no pressure, it could indicate that you'll make even worse decisions with a DE hunting you down?

No one is say 7on7's are the end all/be all of evaluating a QB, but to act like you cant take anything away from them is ridiculous.
