I don't think I have watched this since it was actually played. Enough time has passed to conduct a proper post-mortem

Down 21-3 early 2nd.

I’ve always wondered why the Hell Garcia picked that ball up on like the five and threw it out the back of the endzone

I legitimately thought a comeback was in store when Bama cut it to 7 in the 4th

Also we have played Clemson 3 times as much as South Carolina in the Saban era

I was in South America getting as frustrated with the crappy video stream as I was the game.

As much as I wanted to throw the computer out of my apartment window, I held on to hope and watched the loss play out for 20-30 seconds at a time... playing and buffering and playing.

Miserable all around.

Coincidentally, I now live in Columbia, SC. That game and this fall's home game vs the Tide are high on everyone's discussion list when they find out I am from AL. It would also appear that I am randomly selecting everyone in the stands that day, as each claim to have been there.

Were they regularly playing Sandstorm by then? The one thing that would make rewatching that game even worse.

A few things about that game.

- The two games before were on the road at Arkansas (comeback) and a night game at BDS against Florida. I feel like we were a bit mentally drained going into that game. That’s what a lot of people don’t get about our schedule every year. You can be favored in every game but that doesn’t mean games can’t be taxing.

- The stats might not back me up, but we panicked early on and tried to lean too much on McElroy, who was holding on to the ball way too long. If we had just kept playing with a balance offense like we did against Arkansas after USCe got early, I think we could’ve pulled it out.

- Garcia was money and Spurrier was dialed in with his playcalling.

Another thing to remember about the SC game and 2010 was every SEC team after Arkansas and Florida had a bye week before they played Bama. 6 SEC teams with a bye before the Bama game.

Over time this game seems to get referred to more and more as a dominating arse-whooping by SC. When you look at the stats and the even the game flow, it wasn't as bad as I think a lot of people have made it out to be. It was a seven point game in the 4th. Most Alabama losses in the Saban era are made out to be worse than they actually were because it is just so surprising that it happens.

Garcia and Jeffrey were so freaking efficient that game though.

[THIS IS A BAMMER MOMENT]

Every time the SEC network plays a BAMA games it seems like it's always the ones we have lost. Are they cashing in on BAMA fatigue?

What's even weirder is a Spurrier team did the same thing in 2000. Rex Grossman ran out the back of the endzone against Mississippi State in 2000 from about the same place on the field: LINK
