I've always loved Simpson, and his candid takes.

I still don't understand why he got in so much hot water over second guessing Sotos age.

He called out the Dodgers for wearing shorts and tee-shirts to batting practice that same year, and they jumped all over him for that also.

When doing outside activities or in my truck, enjoy J.Simpson/J.Powell calling the game.
Great old school radio voices.
So much better than the tv guys.
Braves win, Mets loss.
Now only hf game out.

Braves: Vaughn Grissom, SS (No. 4)

After a strong showing for High-A Rome that landed him on last month’s list of hottest hitters, Grissom was promoted to Double-A Mississippi. He has been enjoying a torrid debut at the new level ever since. The 21-year-old homered in his M-Braves debut and has collected 12 hits in his first 26 at-bats, good for a .462 average and a 1.154 OPS through six games. Overall, he’s slashing .390/.470/.590 over the past 30 days across both levels with four homers, six doubles, a triple, 18 RBIs, eight walks and 10 stolen bases.

It's going to be really interesting to see what AA decides to do about Dansby. He's been amazing this year, but there are a couple good prospects on the farm, and he's got to sign Riley and Fried.

Signing Dansby is a no-brainer if it can be done. I have my doubts though. He's an Atlanta guy, but he also didn't retain new representation after what his agent did to Freddie so there may never even be a conversation. Personally I think we end up swapping with...the fricking Dodgers, which will hurt because I can't stand Turner and seeing another of our franchise cornerstones go play for the West Coast Yankees would be a gut punch. He allegedly hates Los Angeles and wants to be back home though.

Riley is still 3 years away from free agency. Fried is 2 years away. We should have the money to sign both regardless of what happens with the SS position. The Battery has become a money machine and attendance has been great. I think we will probably have a $200+ million payroll in the next few years.

Dansby, growing up a Braves fan, from the area, now in his prime, seems like our SS for a while longer.
However, as you said, with this agent being tricky, stay tuned.
With Duvall being out for the season look for AA to trade for another OF. Also, with Ian's on again, off again struggles, a possible starting pitcher may be traded for. They may soon give Kyle Muller another opportunity. He's pitching well for the Stripers.
As far as any relief help, Yates will soon be in the pen. However, wouldn't be shocked to see another arm added.

I think they won't resign Dansby because of how much of a roller coaster he has been his whole career. They have Shewmake at AAA and Vaughn Grissom at AA. I think Grissom is considered the future and Shewmake may hold down the position for a year if Grissom is not ready next year. His numbers this year are eerily similar to Michael Harris's. Just had a 18 game hit streak and a 45 game on base streak snapped last night

Another Strider masterpiece.
Money Mike doing his thing.
Another crushed bomb by Olson.
Rosario seems to be getting his timing down.
W.Smith serving up 9th inning batting practice.
Proud of Snit getting to 500 wins.
All in all, good bounce back win against the fighting Phils.

The Braves on Monday acquired infielder Ehire Adrianza from the Washington Nationals in exchange for outfielder Trey Harris, who was ranked as the 29th prospect, per MLB Pipeline, in the Braves' system. Adrianza will wear No. 12.

Atlanta also designated infielder Robinson Canó for assignment. In nine games for the Braves this season, Canó batted .154 (4-for-26) with a double and a run scored.

Adrianza, 32, batted .179 (15-for-84) with two doubles and seven RBIs in 31 games for the Nationals this season. The 6-foot-1, 198-pound native of Guarenas, Venezuela, signed a one-year contract with the Nationals in the offseason after winning the World Series with Atlanta last season.

In the 2021 regular season, Adrianza played 109 games for Atlanta, hitting .247 (45-for-182) with nine doubles, five home runs and 28 RBIs.

Adrianza’s 16 hits as a pinch-hitter last season tied for the most in Major League Baseball. In total, he hit .250 (16-for-64) in pinch-hit situations with five doubles, three home runs and 12 RBIs.

Bowman is saying there's still money for Dansby, Fried, and others as well and the Braves expect to have a top 5 payroll soon.

Trade deadline is at 6pm tomorrow.
1 thing we know is it won't surprise any if AA takes it to the end of the deadline on a key trade or 2.
Last season acquiring Joc, Duvall, Solar, Rosario.
3/4 at the deadline.
All 4 OF's coming up big last postseason.
Braves being the 1st team in MLB history with 2 postseason series MVP'S that weren't on the team till midseason.
Rosario (NLCS)
Soler (WSMVP)
Stay tuned fellas.

Riley and the Braves agreed to a 10-year, $212 million extension on Monday. The deal includes a $20 million option for 2033, when the third baseman will be 36 years old.

This deal buys out three arbitration years for Riley, who will make $15 million in 2023, $21 million in 2024 and $22 million per season over the remainder of the deal.

Riley just completed one of the greatest months in Braves history, hitting .423 with 11 homers and a 1.344 OPS in July. He set a franchise record with 26 extra-base hits, breaking the mark Hank Aaron set when he tallied 25 extra-base hits in July 1961.

Riley has hit .302 with 62 homers and a .924 OPS since the start of the 2021 season. He is one home run shy of a second straight 30-homer season.

Atlanta announced a deal for outfielder Robbie Grossman from the Tigers and is nearing one for right-hander Jake Odorizzi from the Astros, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.

The club has not confirmed the Odorizzi trade, which would reportedly send reliever Will Smith back to Houston.

Grossman, a reliable defender at all three spots flashed pop with Detroit last year, hitting a career-high 23 home runs, though he has only two this season. The Braves will send LHP Kris Anglin back to the Tigers.

I dont know how we got anything in return for Will Smith... but we did... that chapter of Braves baseball is over. Now to get rid of Jansen- the right handed version of Will Smith.

What's wrong with Jansen? He's 3rd in the league in saves, has 5 wins, has a whip of .99, and an opponent batting average of .194. How is that remotely similar to Smith?

Do you watch the games, or read the box score the next day ?

If you watch the games it's clear he's off the rails. Every outing is a fiasco.

I've been displeased with the situation for years though so Jansen catches a little more grief from me than others maybe.

I'm not going to be pleased until we find a power pitcher that throws strikes and misses a lot of bats. Guys that pitch to contact like Jansen are always going to have hiccups - we've seen this year weak contact in the right place is as good as 110 off the bat.

He's had a great career, but I'd like him to go away or be moved down the leverage hierarchy. JMHO

Not crazy about this pick up. He's only had that one year with any power in 10 years in the majors. He's a below average hitter with little power. Might could have moved Ozuna and Heredia for a better option.

Definitely like getting Jake from the Astros though. (and moving Will)

AA watches the games -

quote:

The Braves are set to acquire closer ?Raisel Iglesias? from the Angels for right-hander Jesse Chavez and left-hander Tucker Davidson, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. The clubs have not confirmed the trade.

Iglesias, 32, is 16-for-19 in save chances this year with 48 strikeouts against nine walks in 35 2/3 innings. Since the start of the 2017 season, the eight-year veteran has 150 saves.

Iglesias, who signed a four-year, $58 million deal with the Angels in December, is owed $48 million from 2023-25 and the Braves will pick up the entire contract.

I was a little disappointed they didn't land Drury.
