I hope someone picks him up in the same division, and he comes in an kicks the game winner against them... Karma's a bitch.

I get that kickers only have 1 job..But, it seems like the only position that could have 1 bad game and get cut immediately?

He's a rookie and had no goodwill built up. Were he a proven NFL kicker already, they would overlook one meltdown game.

gotta be honest. i don't really follow college kickers from other teams but this was definitely one of the few i remember because he was so good

Yeah-he was clutch in college and a good kid...but it's the NFL, it's money, it's job security...bottom line-you have to perform!!!

I'd like to think he reviewed the game film to make sure the holder didn't screw up, but if not then Carlson missed three from distances professionals are expected to make. It doesn't matter how good he was in college, there's ten more (at least) who want his spot.

I wonder if it has something to do with the bigger ball in the NFL

I'm pretty sure college and NFL use the same ball. Kicking is mostly mental at that level anyway, it's clear for whatever reason he was a headcase that game.

He will get another chance somewhere along the way. Kid is a great kicker. Not the last we will hear from him.

Welcome to the real world. Sucks for the kid to have one bad game on the road and then your dream gets crushed, but kickers are expendable. If Cousins goes out there and throws 5 interceptions, he isn't getting cut.

hows that work? he gets two game checks, or he gets the entire year of his contract?

Game checks and any signing bonus etc. I think.

Zimmerman gets paid a lot of money to coach the team to win. He must be undefeated, right?

I’m not sure I buy any outcome in an NFL game.
