Former NFL QB Michael Vick has opened up about participating in a dogfighting ring during his career and revealed his one main regret...
quote:

“I wish I had a father figure or somebody in my life — and I did, too, for the most part — but not to the point where somebody was like, ‘Yo, man, you can really screw all this up,’” Vick said. “Ain’t nobody came and said, ‘Bro, you can screw all this up.’ One person [did], I won’t say his name," he told Tyreek Hill.
...

“The whole time like I was gone I thought they was gonna wait on me, but that was wishful thinking,” Vick said. “Like, I really thought like they was gonna wait for me to get back and all this would be over and then I step back in, be the starter, and we just move on like nothing ever happened. But that’s not reality. And I was hoping for something that just couldn’t happen.”

I'll give Vick this at least he has been completely clean since. People can change so hopefully he did.

If you need someone else to tell you not to torture dogs, then you're a piece of shite and beyond rehabilitation.

I knew a bunch of rednecks in Baton Rouge and Livingston that we’re caught dogfighting around early 80’s. They were arrested and in the paper and caught running through the woods to get away. Not one of them gave a shite or stopped it afterward. At least this guy had something to say.

Wait so the biggest regret is qbout his reality through it and not drowning dogs with his bare hands?

No one told me bro, you’re gonna screw this up.. well one person did. Maybe you should have listened to that one person that tried to warn you.. really though, you were making millions and pissed it away to bet peanuts on dog fighting. Dumbass

Did he actually say that was his “biggest regret” or are all of you basing your takes off Larry Leo’s retarded arse lol

Over time, these guys often learn the hard way that it is bad to surround yourself with only 'yes' people.

I don't take what he says as 'victim mentality' or 'lack of accountability'. I think he's just saying - 'dang, I wish someone would have been around to reinforce right and wrong and tell me NO'.

Guys like Vick don't follow sound advice. They actually push out the people giving it.

Victim. Always the victim.

Very telling, his comments. And they speak to how he still doesn't get it. He didn't say, "I regret torturing and killing helpless animals". Nope. "I regret someone not telling me I could lose everything." In other words, he regrets things that affected him adversely, not the despicable things he did.

I think implicit in the statement that he regrets not having a father figure is the idea that what he did is wrong. Sometimes y’all are just too hard. I think it takes a lot of courage to say what he did.

I don’t think he was really part of the dog thing? Or am I wrong there?

In other words, I wish I wouldn’t have gotten caught. Bad luck not Bad & Heartless decisions.

Wasn't Roy Jones doing cockfighting back in the day? I was young for all this but i did hear about it.

Why would you need another person to tell you it was wrong?

I mean I would. I kinda came from an enviroment where dogfighting happened. I didnt have dogs and didnt care about them either (still dont). Hell i didnt even know people really really cared like that until this whole thing came out. Im telling you if you dont come from an enviroment fostering that you cant do that you really wont care. Who around was telling him he couldnt.

It was about a week ago when Roseanne Barr's obviously sarcastic comment on the Holocaust was intentionally framed and misinterpreted as serious so I'm a little wary of these quotes taken out of a podcast without any sort of context as to how it got there. I haven't listened or read all of Vick's feelings about his heinous crimes but I'd hope he has said he has more regrets other than not having a father figure. I mean that is hardly even what you'd consider a "regret" (which it doesn't sound like he actually called it a "regret"). I mean it is like saying I regret not having a million dollars.

If he didn't get caught he'd still be doing it. If he didn't know it was illegal he is a moron.

His biggest regret: getting caught.

So the biggest regret he has for running a dog fighting ring is that no one warned him it could harm his career?

Except that one guy that did… And he didn’t listen. Perhaps he should have spent more time at VT and learned to speak.
