Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis was reportedly turned away from a restaurant in West Hollywood called Katana on Monday because he was wearing a hoodie...

On Monday, the night before they took on the Lakers in L.A., a group of New Orleans Pelicans players were reportedly turned away from a Japanese restaurant in West Hollywood called Katana. A witness told Emily Smith of Page Six that the doorman objected to the hooded sweatshirt Davis was wearing.

“Davis was pleading with the doorman, saying, ‘Me and my teammates just want to get something to eat.’ He said he couldn’t take off the hoodie because he was wearing a sleeveless T-shirt underneath,” the witness recalled. “Davis even offered to spend a fortune to rent the private room, but the doorman said, ‘No you can’t come in wearing a hoodie.’ So Davis got back in his SUV and left, and only then did the restaurant manager come running out, freaking out at the doorman.”

It has nothing to do with the NBA. It's an atmosphere people expect when they drop that sort of coin. If not, they'd just go to Applebee's. The restaurant has to uphold that reputation. It's not about the NBA, it's about maintaining class in a high class establishment.

I understand the general dinning area rules, but if he was willing to rent a private room, if they had one, then they should have accommodated. This L.A. after all, people of his net worth or notoriety are a dime a dozen

I guess the doorman did his job....then why did the manager come running out tearing him a new one. Story is someone recognized AD told the manager what was going on by then AD had left manager was furious at the doorman who didn't know who AD was.

Wife & I were at a resort. Went to dinner (I was in jeans) with a nice shirt & they refused to serve me wearing blue jeans. Went back to the room, changed pants and all was well. No, I'm not black.

So sounds like the owner tore the doorman a new one. I understand cultures, but sometimes there are exceptions, especially when you have a guy that brings good pub. Now, most are going to see it as a loss for the restaurant. Who knows if it was a last minute decision in a city you don't live in everyday. Common sense says escort the guys to the private area he requested.
